Hope you recover soon. Not sure about your account size but if its less then 1 million that would be a 1 day DD of 6% or so. I know personally I wouldnt feel comfortable with a DD like that (even if its only for a short time).
I hope you dont mind me asking, do you have a strategy how to manage DD risk or you just focus on the end closing results?

hey mac, i'm not comfortable with it either, lol.

i manage no different than most. today was not a positive either. before today i was mtm up over 5% for nov too.

i plan on posting Q4 results (like i have done all yr) so u can see my dd's, etc.

Ok looking forward for your Q4 results. While the daily posts on the thread is very interesting, the fact that it’s in “dollar amount” rather then % makes it lose a lot of its value. Losing 10k in a 50k account means something bad, while losing 10k in a 2 Mil account (especially unrealized lose) means nothing bad at all. That’s why I for me the quarterly reports are much more informative.

OK, since everybody is so honest, I will tell you my result today:
-65,980.

My mean reversion strategy just didn't work today. I was also deceived by the midnight bounce. I thought the morning sell off was just a short-lived one, I thought a repeat of the midnight bounce would happen. It never came. A big part of the loss came from crude oil.

I am also honest enough to tell you that the loss is 30% of my account.
