Good day today: +$4,401 net
Want to quickly mention a disaster (for me) that I had last week on Wednesday (after a week I can finally talk about it - lol).
The day was progressing well but then, just before the coordinated rate cuts hit the tape, a computer error meant that I sent a large batch of orders with the wrong limit price (offering stock too low). This, combined with a giant spike as the news hit, meant that I was suddenly offside $32k which for me is massive. With a dash of 'luck', I closed out the trades for a $24k loss and finished the day down $21k or so.
Just to add salt to the wound, I calculated that if the algorithm had been working correctly, I actually would have made good money instead of having my face ripped off.
I only really mention this as a reality check for myself and others. I am miles from the best or biggest or best trader on these boards but I was getting reasonably consistent and October was in-line to be my best month ever. However, it will now be back to an average month, and that's if the next couple weeks are ok. I think this thread is great but I guess it should also reflect the risks involved and I need to remind myself that even a few moments lacking concentration can cost you weeks or even months of hard-earned profits.
PS - Lescor - congrats. That's really amazing!
