I agree, the afternoons have been where clear rallies have been taking place the past couple weeks. I wouldn't necessarily call these people smart, since according to news sources the latest afternoon rally was "short covering." Honestly unless they are really really good there wasn't much profit to be made shorting this week.

If you trade some big names than that is when 'smart' money starts buying or selling.
In the AM you are in the loop with 'dumb' money which is very volitile due to reactions of whatever may be going on.
If you just need to make a few hundred bucks than this is what you should try.
Lastly, and most importantly... consider not trading at all on certain days if the setups are not there with your 3 or 5 stocks.
The money will come... just don't focus on that. Focus on the entry, a good entry will reduce the need for a big stop.
Focus on the time of day and that should get you rolling...
