How do you decide where to place your orders so long before the market open?

How long into the day do they usually last before they get worn away? Do other traders usually jump in front, or do you make a really small spread, or are there not many active with this strategy?
 
For the last few days I have been placing my orders early in the morning for WBR just for the liquidity. All of my other trading is done throughout the day and manually inputed. I use a big block scalping method. Im really pissed actually cuz today I was holding 400k of LU at 2.94 and sold out even, and if I would of waited another 10 freaking minutes I could of caught it for 2 pennies. But overall I had a good day that I am happy with.

Seriously, I had 5 days last year where I lost money and all of them were under 1500 at most. Pretty much everyday I make atleast 3k most days 5k though and I think this year as well as last I averaged a little above 5400 for the day.

8 years at perfecting, constantly tweaking, researching, and working on a trading technique that pays. I like to think it was hard work.:)

so all it took was 8yrs of blood, sweat, tears, work, trial, error, wins, losses, highs, lows, and BAM! you became an instant, overnight success?

seriously, that's awesome. congrats on finding (i.e. creating) your stride. it's always great to hear about perseverance paying off. :D

Not much action thus far. one new pos SS FFIV. I got a brief sell signal in majors on the open but will wait until the close for confirmation. That was my first short signal in weeks....

nothing too exciting here. made half of my day at the open, the other half has been made and lost all over the place..... hopefully things will be a little better this afternoon.....
