Cutten, that's exactly how I feel about buying a car too. My friends don't think I make much money because I drive a mediocre car while they drive 40-50K cars on a 40-50K salary. Have fun spending the next 5-10 years paying for it... lol.
As much as I'd like to splurge, I don't know what next year will bring.

The trader lifestyle sucessful traders have is called "freedom". This hasn't been mentioned but skilled traders are free to do as they wish.
The "never empty" concept or idea is a very pleasant notion to contemplate. Money is always just there to exchange for what is on the table at the time. I remember MAK and I chatting about this very late into the evening downtown at a very super restaurant. We had driven around looking for old haunts of mine and settled on a current favorite of his.
Being expert at trading makes all the money ever needed available on short notice. "Empty" can't ever be part of the scene.
By eliminating any demands on personal time as soon as you get out of grad school makes everything work out in a fairly optimum manner. You get to have everything you want for almost all of your life.
I've noticed that a lot of people would rather be right than rich. It is a funny scene, believe me.
Never being empty gives you time to move up to the top of the pile as a shortcut. Money goes up to power and power goes up to information. At EOP getting out the white paper for the Friday 5 o'clock helicopter to Camp David was fun. sp was Skiing in Switzerland all winter or sailing in Grennwich or Maine in season. 12 cycinder cars are what people drive on the desert in AZ or CA. Gliding is best on the desert BUT you need a hanger for your plane when you have a branch office in Wyoming (in Riverton next to Schvelar's in Hudson where Hollywood has a steak).
I liked exploring for Parcs Canada and UN World Heritage. Seeing seals and penguins in Anarctica is fun too. I had my 75th birthday there about this time last year. HO ho ho.

Hint: Stuff doesn't bring you happiness. Or at least that's my experience.
Take any profession -- how many people chose to live BIG and ultimately ended up bankrupt. Take professional athletes or many others. How many people today are up a creek because they made conscious choices to live above their means. Why can't people pay their mortgages or credit cards or car loans?
If you did drive your Lambraghini around town what would be your objective? Is it that you're perhaps insecure and want -- or need -- for people to see how successful you are?
I find more happiness going into an inner city school 2 afternoons a week and working with kids who are academically way behind, who come from poverty stricken homes and have absolutely nothing in life. And I drive there in my Pontiac Grand Am -- by choice and not based on what I can afford.

I really like the P car (can't pronounce the darn thing) for how "normal" it looks on the outside. Almost like a regular Passat, almost.....
. Love the interior, by far te nicest car for less than 30K used. Same for the SUV. Wife wanted a mini van but since we go upstate from time to time and will do that a lot more with the boys in coming years I convince her to get an SUV. To her whether it is a X3 or P. Cayenne Turbo, makes absolutely no difference, so here comes Johnny!
