Trader commits suicide

Quote from wutangfinancial:

I'm very sorry to hear about this.

Not to digress too far, but I disagree that money is the barometer of happiness/social acceptance.

I have a lot of financial back up in my life, as my Dad has his own management consultancy, and I'm inheriting a bunch of money, AND I have a good education. So I don't have to worry as much as most people on earth, even 98% of folks in North America.

That said, I'm often suicidally depressed. Why? I'm short and very, very ugly. I'm 23, and never had a girlfriend, despite being socially normal. No amount of money can change what I look like, and no amount of money can buy me real love. The only way I can get sex is through prostitution.
Also, my physical appearance limits my job prospects to, well, trader (boutique hedge fund manager, soon to be).

I'm a living example to those who are currently preoccupied with money: love is all you need!

To add: I think that giving to others can really put your own problems in perspective, while being very rewarding. The marginal utility of money doesn't mean too much to me, so why not transfer some of that to the developing world through micro finance, NGOs, etc.

WuTang, you see yourself as not finding a love because of how you think you look physically. And that is what you say makes you depressed. You want to make the point that money does not make happiness, becasue you have money and still suffer depression. Do not forget that beauty does not buy happiness either. There are many beautiful people who marry others for their beauty, not for love. Most of all do not forget that many beautiful men with money also go to prostitutes. What does this say Wu tang?
And its very sad for the trader who took his life. I don't mean to change the topic of the thread.

I feel honored you took the effort.

Maybe you should "choose" to not be annoyed by my remark next time.
I liked your reply.

As it happens I can "choose". You can "choose". So can anyone. Look across life, how many among the multitudes, "choose"?
:)

Particulary interesting sales reps is in the category of least stressfull. I was in mortgage sales for a few years and sales in general is probably the most stressfull job I had. In terms of making quota, prospecting for clients and closing deals. Especially since most sales jobs are 100% commision based.

Such a clear eyed self-appraisal is rare. You'll go far in life!
