Trade deficit in goods tops $1 trillion in 2021 for first time as U.S. gobbles up imports

Oh really, so you think Samsung, one of the largest makers of SSDs, a foreign company, is building backdoors into their products for the benefit exclusively of the US govt? lol RE: Intel, I don't automatically attribute to malice or conspiracy that which could more easily be explained by mistake. You really think Intel's management would say, "Ok govt, let's build in a security vulnerability into our products that could be discovered and exploited by anyone. And once it is discovered, the only way to avoid a full recall is to patch the product with microcode that will significantly reduce the performance of our product and expose us to lawsuits, tank the company stock, and tarnish our reputation. Yeah, sounds like a great idea. We'll implement it, keep quiet, and hope no one else other than you discovers it." That's ridiculous. RE: Apple, I think it is a much bigger conspiracy to believe that every single employee involved in the project, many of whom hate the US government, would go along with such an implementation. They don't even want to provide cloud services to the US DoD:

My point is that even if the US govt wanted to be as totalitarian as the CCP, they can't because they don't have the same amount of control and forced obedience over their people. You won't see this in China:

https://about.att.com/csr/home/governance/transparency.html

You won't see a Chinese tech company say no to the CCP:

https://www.zdnet.com/article/microsoft-refuses-to-hand-over-foreign-data-held-in-contempt-of-court/

Or this:

https://www.apple.com/customer-letter/answers/

If the CCP tells Hauwei to build in some feature into its phones, you would never hear about it and there would be no push back.

A Chinese citizen can't even criticize the CCP otherwise his/her social credit score will take a hit. One could lose his/her job and get blocked from leaving the country for doing so.

In the US, you can post really bad stuff about a sitting president and the president can even be kicked off social media while still in office. Even if you say, "yeah, but he deserved it"...whatever the case nothing close to that would ever be allowed to happen to a CCP leader in China.

https://www.the-sun.com/news/1742978/kathy-griffin-decapitated-trump-head-election/

Imagine if a Chinese citizen posted something similar to that about Xi. Their organs would immediately get harvested and their family would be sent to a "reeducation" labor camp and you would never even hear about it.
Yes because it is not the hardware that is the problem but the very design of how they have to be built in order to use protocolls that transfer data that are the same for every device. It is why hard disk encryption is always exploitable.

You're sliding away from the original discussion comparing US and Chinese tech capabilities and willingness to spy on its citizens, foreign nations and nationals, friends or foes, including disruptive tech to do damage. My point is, we have no moral or ethical rectitude there, because we do the same.
I'm not interested in arguing what the CCP does in China, primarily because I agree that the CCP is a dictatorship and I'm concerned with the Taiwan situation leading to a regional war. But I'm not at all willing to follow the path of rabid anti Chinese media from our US fringe white nationalist groups whose two prongs goal is to seek rapprochment with (white) Russia and vilify China and its people. The consequences of their actions in the US is unequivocal as more and more American Asian are brutalized and killed.

So then that would be an even bigger conspiracy theory because instead of having to control a single company, you would somehow have to corrupt organizations such as the IEEE, JEDEC, SATA International Org, etc which all have members from large corporations and academia all over the world. Also, these standards are open so if there is a flaw, anyone could see it and exploit it including our adversaries.

You can't claim that the US is just as bad as China in regards to freedom, privacy, and civil liberties. It's not even close. There's no comparison. As I said above, you can speak out against the US government using US social media platforms on US soil. You can wish death on the current US president and claim an entire group of people (white, straight, males) are evil and inherently racist, have inherited illegitimate wealth, and continue to enslave people today and nothing bad will happen to you. Some people such as Colin Kapernick have enriched themselves by slandering the US and it's foundation. Some people have become very wealthy by pushing division and fear while condemning the US as systematically racist and oppressive (funny how people who are supposed to be the oppressed keep pouring in to such an oppressive and racist country). You can't do that in China. You can't criticize the CCP. Bad things will happen if you question the CCP. Now, in regards to willingless to spy, yes, I'm sure the US would use whatever means it can to monitor communications at home and abroad. Honestly, if I was the head of the CIA and I had the ability to monitor every single communication in all forms such as phone, e-mail, message board, etc., I'd definitely do it. If you had the ability to run searches on those conversations for terms such as "kill <important person>" or "blow up <govt building>", then yes, you'd probably find and be able to stop some terrorism from happening. The problem is that you can trust someone like me not to abuse that power, but what about the next guy. It likely could be used for political purposes or spy on neighbors and that's the issue with it. Although realize that someone at Google or Microsoft likely already has all your e-mails. Do you trust them more than the government? So yes, I agree with you that government would spy if they could (I would). Where we disagree is on what the CCP is able get away with vs. what the CIA / NSA is willing to get away with.

Btw, this is unrelated to the current topic, but what "rabid anti Chinese media from our US fringe white nationalist groups" are you following? I am not aware of any. And what are the identities of the attackers who brutalized and killed Asian Americans? Realize that all crime is up over the past couple years as a result of horrible policy. Regarding Russia, I'm sure very few people want to unite with Russia, but I would rather see the US have closer ties with Russia in exchange for Russia not having closer ties with China. From just a few days ago...

You sound like a Fox watcher so it makes sense you wouldn't know any anti China media, although Carlson is the most outspoken pro Russia discourse. Breitbart is the better known one and Bannon is its rabid spokesman who helped shape Trump's anti China agenda while spinning Russia as the natural ally.

That you don't know about increased violence against Asian in the US is more troublesome.

Did you know every hard disk and also SSDs do have backdoors implemented? Do you know which government is responsivle for it? Who says Intels security breach some years ago wasn't also an implemented backdoor? You knowif anybody has access to icloud he has basically almost root like privileges over an IOS device? Who guarantees you Apple would not handle out icloud acces to the gov if they threaten Apple?

Then don't store your stuff on the iCloud?

Truth is China skepticism has increasing bipartisan and global support (especially after how the CCP has handled Covid).

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/co...ast-bipartisan-issue-left-washington-n1261407

Like I said before, I would rather see Russia move closer to the US and further away from the CCP. If we push Russia away, they will align more closely with China.

I never claimed that there has not been an increase in violence against Asians in the US. I just pointed out that all crime is up thanks to horrible policy which by definition would include crime against Asians. Also that article is simply wrong by claiming "From 2019 to 2020, the overall hate crime rate declined". According to the FBI, hate crimes increased in 2020 relative to 2019. (https://www.justice.gov/crs/highlights/2020-hate-crimes-statistics). So criticize my sources all you want, but at least I don't go around posting fake news.

Also, the article intentionally left out the most relevant detail because it would have contradicted their "it's all driven by white nationalism / Trump narrative"...who is committing the hate crimes. You can find that data here:
upload_2022-2-2_10-15-36.png

https://crime-data-explorer.fr.cloud.gov/pages/explorer/crime/hate-crime

Keep in mind that whites are about 75% of the population in the US including Hispanic whites. So whites are not committing hate crimes at a higher rate relative to their percentage of the population. While no country is perfect and slavery was by far the biggest mistake in US history, today, the demand for racial oppression in the US far exceeds the supply and many feel the need to manufacture it. I wonder how many cases of Jussie Smollett are in that data.

Hispanic whites? Don't just copy/paste Wikipedia...there's no such thing as Hispanic white, unless you try to show that whites are a larger group than they are... another white supremacist fear of being drowned in a sea of dark people.
Today whites are falling below 60% of the US population, with 75% of the 65+ year old group being white. No wonder the white supremacist movement is seeing a resurgence of popularity. But data shows that by 2045, the white population will fall below 50%.
Of course, it really doesn't matter, but I think it's fair to keep facts straight.

Btw, I never stated the upsurge violence against Asian came from whites. I said the dissemination of racist anti Asian rhetoric by Trump and his cohort of white supremacists has led to increased violence against Asian.

Want the US to set aside 80 years of anti Russian propaganda and ally with Putin's dictatorship to fight China’s dictatorship... why? Because white people should have a common bond, regardless of their politics? So, so transparent.

The fastest growing race in America is actually Asian. I don't see why anyone would have a problem with that. I've never seen a homeless Asian and that's not a statement about race, but about culture.

The data does not back up your viewpoint. Normalized by population, in 2020, the largest group of hate crime offenders against Asians was a group that had the least voter support for Trump. I guess we really need to fear those Trump support black white supremacists.

Why must you attempt to force everything to be about race? Your theory is based on nothing but wild speculation and a very dark view of other humans. I already stated, China is a far greater existential threat to the US than Russia. While a war between either country would be devastating for the world, it is a far better situation to not have Russia aligned with China.

No, it's Latino. Been so for decades.

That's what I'm trying to say... I'm aware that blacks perpetrate most of the violence against Asians. It makes sense because they often live in adjacent neighborhoods.

Not my theory. Plenty of right wing media promoting shared values with Russia over the perils from the yellow people. Despite 80 years of proxy conflicts, threats of annihilation, nuclear warheads pointing at each other and 60 years of Cold War, you call China a far greater existential threat to the US than Russia?!? Yup, you've been guzzling the right-wing media kool-aid.
China is a formidable competitor, but instead of taking on the challenge in the spirit of competition, we whine and threaten and fear. I get it, we bankrupted our society by building the greatest modern military in the world. We need enemies to justify our continuous bipartisan spending, while we argue over $800 covid checks and repeat like a mantra that America is the greatest country in the world. Yawn so done with that shit.

Uhh...no. I highly doubt that given the income disparity between the two groups.

Russia has a smaller GDP than Texas. Where do you think North Korea got their weapons tech? You really think a starving nation was able to come up with hypersonic tech faster than the US (as far as we know)? They are a proxy for China. Russia is also not building artificial islands in the South Pacific after pledging to Obama that they would not. While there are troop buildups along the Russia / Ukraine boarder, China has become increasingly aggressive towards neighboring countries and has threatened war with Taiwan and the US multiple times. China has frequently and flagrantly violated Taiwan's airspace with military aircraft. Both US and China have targeted the US gov and corporations in cyber attacks. China has been going after military secrets (https://www.cnn.com/2021/12/02/politics/china-hackers-espionage-defense-contractors/index.html). I guess the FBI is now right wing media propaganda: https://www.fbi.gov/investigate/counterintelligence/the-china-threat
