I think the OP would like to know how many shares he traded throughout a specific time period.
He should ask his broker then or perhaps let us know which broker he's using if he wants to see if we can help him?
Oops yes sorry, my bad! I use Interactive Brokers and can't find a way to get the total number of shares traded in a particular timeframe (day/month/year), the different statements only report by symbol and IB support couldn't provide for a way to do this which I initially thought it would be something simple

No IB only produces reports regarding your account and not really any reports for analytical purposes. So you will have to manually add up all of the shares for a specific stock over a particular timeframe yourself. This is as far as I know.
As others above have said, just use a spreadsheet.
Export an Activity Statement as a .csv file, selecting the period you require, open with your favourite spreadsheet program, scroll down to "Trades" in the first column, and in column H you have all the information you require.
