We are talking about speech. Free speech guarantees are not needed to protect popular speech. Calling it "hate" is just a rationalization for repression. She isn't advocating anything illegal.

Ironically, in this case, her speech is actually quite popular with voters at large. It is the powerful vested interests that object to her being heard and the media of course are dancing to their tune.

I will agree... in my recent time in Toronto she seems to be a fringe candidate that is not very well liked by the majority of people working in downtown. Even the people who are strong Ford supporters (mainly folks living in the suburb areas) do not support her.

Repressive regimes always give that as justification. Compared to what we are experiencing, there is some attraction to that, which is a big problem. The difference here however is that the turmoil is being created by the left to muzzle opposing viewpoints. A free society cannot tolerate that, or you won't be free for long. You will be ruled by whichever group has the biggest mobs.

In my opinion, Canadians are far more free politically then Americans. We regularly switch party allegiance and have more then two legit options. Partisan politics and the absurd "left vs right" debates that Americans obsess about these days barely exists in Canada. Your idea on mobs seems to ignore the fact that there are far more mobs of substance in the US then Canada.

Trump isn't popular either. Somehow he got elected president though. Evidently there are some people in very high places in Canada who desperately do not want her message of restricting immigration and focusing on public safety to be heard.

Seriously, if her message is so unpopular, why the need to censor her? Wouldn't reasoned debate be a better alternative than letting her play the martyr? Don't tell me it's about preventing hate speech unless you have plenty of examples of muslims and leftists being similarly censored.

The only three MSM (CBC, Bell, Rogers) in Canada have banned any mention of the right-of-center candidate, Faith Goldy from the airwaves (radio, print or tv). Banned from all debates as well. Toronto, Canada's largest city with a population over 3 million, declared itself a sanctuary city which is turning into San Fransisco north.

Amazingly she is polling third, in the high teens, with no media coverage. The fake news will say "an unknown third candidate" for any reference. The left are losing their minds.

So she polled in the "high teens" but got a measly 3.4% of the actual vote. She can retire from politics now knowing this is the high point in her career.
