Topstep trader combine as a newb.

Sure, any trade is not a sure thing. However, you take entries that have a higher probability of working. I'm not making the right decisions at the moment, and I need to figure out what has got me off rhythm.
 
My bet would be trying too hard, less trades, only trade where the probability is higher.

I think you wrote that a while back :)

Stop trying to impress the Combine overlords, just focus on making money!
 
HAHA. Yes, I'm probably way overthinking this. I usually get that way when I have a streak where I'm not making money. Start second guessing, etc. Asking yourself if you truly know what you're doing, blah blah, pity party. So, on to tomorrow then.
 
Tell me about it, been kicking my own butt today, started trading STUPIDLY, had a SL hit in 9seconds quick $80 down the drain :(

Trust me, make a lot of $$$'s quickly then walk away, 10 years of this over and over again, will drive you crazy.
 
it's certainly tough, if not everyone would do it. First I learned how to lose $, then how to lose less $. Now I'm ready to learn how to make $, consistently that is.
 
I've been day trading for 10years, making for 2 years, 1st year I ROCKED, 2nd consistency has been out of the window, still making mostly, but then I'll do something stupid and give a lot back.

Hell of a challenge, beat it enough and the money to do what ever you want pretty much!
 
That's the goal, I'm a pretty persistent person I general.... Maybe too much so. Do have to laugh at watching that last order of the day get stopped for 1 tick at Los and up 8 now. . Sometimes that's how it goes.
 
I've had SO SO SO SO many do that over the years, it's annoying, never think no SL is the answer it isn't, has it's own world of issues sadly!

Fed in 30mins, low volume till then, stay out!
 
I'm done for the day, as far as the combine. Too close to my loss limit. That last one just rubbed it in a little :)

I would never make a trade without a stop. My stop is a hard two each time, that gets adjusted. If by year one I'm break even/making a little I will be thrilled. I'll be a year of actual trading around March or April I think. Then I'll focus on that 5 year goal of making ten points per lot a week consistently.

The combine gets a bad rep from some I've seen. Honestly, I think it's been great for myself so far. I would consider doing it again if I were not to pass. I'd probably take some time in between to find out what's been going wrong. I've been compiling that list as we speak.

Sometimes I wonder if I would do better if I were full time trading, without the "distraction" of a job with super long hours. I think it would give me more time to learn, but I'd imagine I'd be too stressed to make good decisions with my trades. I will consider it if and when I'm able to make those 10 a week consistently. The problem with my job is, if I quit it would be hard to get a job again. I have no real skill, no education, etc. So for now, I'll keep working toward my goal and see where it takes me.
 
If you quit your job, you'll have to replace your income from the market, which would equal huge stress and almost definately failure.

I Quit 14 years ago, made loads trading stocks, then blew the account and went back to work :(

Contracted till end of March 2016 that's my planned full time date.
