My 12 points go to Norway.

Thanks.
Anyway, I still don't get the point with regard to " -3x " -
Trading the short side?

Thanks for taking your time.

INVESTICS would be welcome as well -:) [/B]

:)
I`ll try to explain it like this; they are shorting for you (and gearing the short 3 times), and you are betting they are right to do so.

that's what I expected more or less.

I presume trading these EFTS via Interactive Broker is not possible.

Any suggestions what to use instead?

Yes I know there are enough brokers around. That exactly is the problem imho.

Thank you so much for bringing life into this thread.

I have never been to the land of the midnight sun yet. Hopefully some day soon, thank for the invite.

Goalgetter, YES! you can use Interactive brokers to trade ETF's

Guys! I urge to post more often!!

Cheers!

Do NOT jump back in right away.

Sellers are just coming in, we will have a lot more such down days.

We have been waiting for this a long time. In the recent past, all such dips have been bought.

We will sit back and wait for Selling Exhaustion, which will minimize our risk.

Cheers!

Week-End Analysis

One of the statistics I like to compute is as follows:

I monitor the top 3000 stocks by liquidity(not market cap).. you could use the Russell-3000 for this purpose if you choose.

On a daily basis I calculate the number of the stocks from the above set above the 40EMA.

Here are the numbers from this past week:

Fri: 64%
Thu: 76%
Wed: 70%
Tue: 71%
Mon: 83%

If you observe, you can see that the market breadth is slowly and steadily decreasing. If you combine the above information with the money flow you see that money has been dripping out of the market.

For me to get long I want the above stat below 30.

I will try to provide these values every Sat.

Have a Great week-end!

What do you mean by watching a list.:p
There must be a bit more in order to make up your mind. So far the
50 MA fails to start heading south - the other ones short codes I don't know in order to compair.
Am I right in presuming that you take the underlying index's daily chart to decide whether north - south or no trade??

Are these ETFs the most liquid ones as well - by "liquid" (your next post) you mean those with the highest daily volume instead of highest market cap???
Do you use any other site than PROSHARE to gather more inforamtion about ETFs etc.?

Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

BTW I'm not from Norway - much to my regret - but I happen to know a few absolutely cute Norwegians.

I like to keep my bear and bull ETFs separate, thus enabling me to see market trends. One of the ways I do this is calculating the distance of the last price from the 20day high for all of them, this helps me observe short term trends.

It is very difficult to pick the right one. If one is starting out, I think the QID is a safe bet to go short. I almost never look at charts for a signal.

YES! I use the 65DayMovingAverage Dollar Volume. I like them to trade at least $5 Million everyday

How careless of you to call my questions diligent :-) so here we
go - round 2 - no I'm just kidding. Only 1-2 more q.

What is QID please? I simply forgot.
And where are Stockcharts short cuts for the Averages like the 50MA please? (Seemingly I'm somewhat blind.)

Yes I read that. Luckily I'm not your pupil [luckily for you :-)]

No - Europe as well.

Have a pleasant weekend.

Market View for 05.May.2010

Buy Aggressively
Buy Cautiously
Hold/Wait
Sell Cautiously
Sell Aggressively

(the highlighted option is my current sentiment)

One of the statistics I like to compute is as follows:

I monitor the top 3000 stocks by liquidity( not market cap)

On a daily basis I calculate the number of the stocks from the above set that closed above the 40EMA.

Here are the numbers for the past few days:

Tue, 04.May: 50%
Mon, 03.May: 72%

Fri, 30.Apr: 64%
Thu, 29.Apr: 76%
Wed, 28.Apr: 70%
Tue, 27.Apr: 71%
Mon, 26.Apr: 83%

The market has dropped 33% in breadth for this stat in just 7 days, which is the good enough signal to tell us, that we will be going south from here.
