Qassem Soleimani, the leader of the Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ foreign wing, was killed in a strike on his convoy in Iraq, according to Iraqi political and military allies and Iraqi State TV.

Top Iraqi paramilitary commander Abu Mahdi al-Mohandes was killed alongside Mr. Soleimani when the convoy they were traveling in together was struck on the road leading to Baghdad International Airport.

Major trouble ahead. Soleimani is one of the highest ranking officials in IRGC. Fasten your seat belt - there will be blood!
 
ES futures are tanking with serious volume and crude oil CL has rocketed with the news. It could be a bloody day tomorrow. I took a short position in /ES at 3242 shortly after the news came out. We'll see how this goes.

I am no fan of the human turd-train called Trump, but this has nothing to do with Thrump, with U.S. markets, or with ANYONE but
• Iran, and
• the idiot general's presence in the *very* wrong place and at *precisely* the wrong time.

In other words, they asked for it.

For *years* they have asked for it.

They have thumbed their noses at civil society, and have repeatedly attacked innocents. Having gotten a bloody nose,

Whether or not you feel it’s deserved is irrelevant. US nuked a big shot. US basically said, “Yea we did it, now don’t try anything funny”. Iran responding there will be revenge. “Market impact ZERO” is a bold statement to make...

I'm not going to ask how you know that. But since you are referring to all war mongering Republicans...you must have sampled quite a lot to obtain a sample size with sufficient statistical confidence to support your certainty.
