If you're just starting out, I recommend "The Market Maker's Edge" by Lukeman:

It has simple rules for getting in and out of positions that should keep you out of trouble and enable you to survive until you find your niche.

Read "Reminiscences of a Stock Operator" to begin your journey, whether you are day trading or trading on a longer time frame.
There are so many things that you must understand that go on during and after market hours -- this book will give you a good basis for everything you will soak up in the future.
My favorite piece of advice: "Use a system and don't deviate from it".
