Tom Demark Sequential Indicator

I've use TD Seq, Combo and Prop Exaustion for years as part of my trading. There are over 30 TD Indicators that he offers. But they are just that... "Indicators". Not a foolproof system, not a magic formula. If anyone thinks that even exists in trading then they are in the wrong business. If you use them as a tool, they can be quiet powerful. Personally I use them in conjunction with other subjective tools such as volume and bollinger bands. Some may choose to use them with RSI or Stochastics or any of the hundreds of indicators that are out there.

I use them on my bloomberg but if anyone has a code for e-signal would love to see it!

So TD Sequential no longer works does it. No, never happen. Useless, hyped. :)

Well then how about once again a 5min ES chart not once but twice in the overnight globex session - a sell and then a buy. I guess RSI divergences/reverse divergences don't work either ? Confirming TD Seq.

Are these techniques infallible or the holy grail. No, but DeMark never claimed there are. Just another trading tool.

Testing proves .......... that something or someone passed a test. Nothing more.

Believe it or I have used TD Seq for over a decade winning and losing (more of the former) with real, not demo money, on the line.

Heh, 10+ years of profitable trading (or so he claims) and nothing but a screen shot?

You realize that any indicator (MACD, RSI, sun spots, rabbit reproduction patterns) can appear to "call" a top/bottom or great entry point...right? Just look at any chart and you'll eventually see some great setups. It's the ability to repeatedly make these calls that shows if an indicator is truly profitable and robust.

Again, all this talk about "you have to use TD with other indicators" proves nothing. How do you know if TD is responsible for the accuracy or if it's the other indicators? Have you controlled for this?

As for TD working with Jones, it's meaningless unless PTD has quantified how TD's work has helped him. Top pro athletes call in all sorts of trainers, nutritionists, sports psychologists, etc. Invariably, they end up working with a few crackpots as they experiment and try to tweak every aspect of their game. (Steven Seagall working with a couple of top mixed martial artists comes to mind.) Top fund managers are no different.

I'm quite sure Robert Prechter, who has called for a huge, multi-year bear market since 1989, has had a bigger impact on PTD than Demark:

Should we combine Prechter's wave analysis (short side only) with TD's stuff to make it even better?

This. There is nothing out there that's perfect. From my experience, there is definitely something to DeMark. It's a pattern recognition study, so maybe it's becoming less useful as people know about it and can take advantage of it, sort of like chart patterns.

I personally would not pay over 500 a month for his suite of indicators. There are a number of versions floating around out there that are probably pretty close, if not exact, to the cqg, bloomberg version.

Hasn't happened in the 3 decades since it was developed.

Anyway as you can plainly here see most throw rocks at it.

Quote from Kevin Schmit:

I once asked David Hirschfeld, who was Tudor's research director at the time, whether they were finding any of DeMark's stuff useful. He laughed, and said that his indicators were valueless and that DeMark himself appeared to suffer from Logorrhea. And that DeMark was no longer employed by Tudor, for those specific reasons.

Logorrhea, IMO, is a perfect description of his writing style as well... the only trading book I tried to read and just couldn't do it.

For those who believe. As well as those who don't who I'm sure will find nuggets to latch onto to say see even Buffett doesn't believe. :p

DeMark Fibonacci Charts Embraced by Cohen Lure Investors

"Past the two Bentleys in the driveway and beyond the pool and mini water park, the home theater and a sports bar hung with enough memorabilia to equip a basketball team, Tom DeMark has his office -- a dark, wood- paneled lair with six computer screens".
