Quote from mgn:
It seems that there is a predominance of Japanese institutional traders compared to independent traders , especially in the futures and options markets (correct me if I'm wrong). I was wondering if you came across many independent Japanese traders who were good enough to make a living in what has been a restrictive environment.
What Japanese brokers provide the best rates for OSE Nikkei futures? I'm trading through UOB in Singapore for a fair rate (USD1.20) for SGX futures.
From the link below you can see the breakdown by investor type.
Looks like OSE stopped sending this out after they merged with TSE.

As you'll find anywhere, some will make it and some won't. But maybe moreso here, it's not so easy for a Japanese to go independent as a trader, or as anything else for that matter.
As I recall, the multiplier for the Nikkei on SGX is 500. So the rate you pay would be around 240 yen here. That would be a little better than the cheapest Japanese brokers who charge 250 to 300 yen. There might be some that charge a little less, but I don't have time right now to check out all of them.
