Tokyo Stock Exchange Traders

Hello,

I've heard through the grapevine recently that the TSE has issues with delivering timely data. Are there any TSE traders here who can confirm or deny what I've heard. My understanding is that it has difficulties with high loads causing delays of several minutes.

Is this true? And if it is, how frequent are the problems?

Many thanks in advance.

Kind regards,
MK

That's not true. That type of talk has been heard a number
of times since early last year when they had to close the
exchange early one day. Since then the TSE has taken
measures to increase its ability to handle an ever larger
number of orders ahead of its plan to install a new computer
system in 2009. Osaka installed its new computer system
and orders and executed in under 1 second. TSE orders
take 3 to 4 seconds to be executed. But as that goes for everybody, the time is of no consequence.

Thanks for the info gaijin2006. I'm mostly concerned with the timely delivery of data from the exchange. Have you found this to be timely or consistently slow?

Great info, thx again.

data should be fine. executions, IMO, are outlandishly slow but as mentioned, all are in the same boat.

Excellent - thank you both for the info. Glad to hear they are addressing the problem of executions and have a plan.

Best regards,

Worry about the earthquakes---not the data. And for your
information I have noticed that bid/ask quotes and size during
heavy trading in the Nikkei and JGB Futures is usually faster
by a few seconds from IB and eSignal than from many of
the local Japanese brokers.
