Catching that faloing knife would have hurt a lot. (the proceeds btw - went to the 9/11 fund. I couldn't in all conscience profit from that...)

Natalie
When 9/11 happened, I just walked in the door and saw it live happening on the screen. Initially, I was amazed at the awesome special effects, then I realized it said underneath "LIVE from New York"... America under attack...

Next thing I just said: "This means war... It had to happen, and here it is... We'll see a few very nasty years coming up now..."
I was crying quite a bit, too. Hadn't done that for a long time...

Subsequently, it proved right, and the economy went down, bearing on the world and my JD Business, which, heavily reliant on people's demand for luxury items / spare capital, wouldn't prosper as much as it once did... I very recently gave it up to focus on trading full time... It was a tough decision.

But Hey! You're definitely smart. - And wise! Are you also teenage/twen, gorgeous and single? :D

You have my full admiration for that very noble deed. I'm sure very few did the same, we can all learn from this!

I believe females in general make better traders than males. They don't have the male "ego brain"... Not good for trading :p

My Due Respect To You,

Sad but true, Kerman. But I tend to believe that it's never good to give up on people. Everybody has, deep down, a chance to achieve excellence. Many of today's most excellent people have started from right there - deep down! That's why I posted this reply.

Besides, I think his nickname says enough about him - He's a dreamer that idealizes an already idealized image of a "Hollywood Day Trader", instead of finding his own identity.

Also, as you can read, I don't encourage him to continue at all, at least for now. And if he does, I personally don't mind, since he'll contribute to the growth of my trading account in the meantime.

You see, the trading world is like the Serengeti - It's a tough, hot, dry environment, and the Lions depend on stalking herds of Zebras for the weakest ones that are a little too far away from the strong, directional herd.

Trading is precisely like that. Well this boy certainly is not a Lion, but a Zebra, and on top of that a very weak one.

This doesn't mean we have to condemn him (except for his silly posts), since we as lions depend on the Zebras in order to survive. No Zebras, no Lions... Appreciate it, it's the way it is.

Yours Sincerely,
~The Scientist

You talk pretty cocky kid for being a loser most of your natural born life...

Quote from Gordon Gekko:

first of all, i would like to say that i just started this thread because i know this stuff will probably happen again in the future and i was thinking about how to take advantage of it. i'm not at all claiming i would have traded it perfect today. it seemed to me like some error. like nitro said, you can trade another market.

considering that things like that happen not very often through the year (fortunately) - i wonder what would be the great benefit to risk a trade in such a situation?

the risk / reward relation is rather inacceptable i think. and it all comes down to whether such a trade / setup is in your plan or not (for me it is not).

what could such a risky trade contribute to your overall longterm quality / performance as a trader? nothing i would say.

say you bought yesterdays plunge and made some points - fine - but it would have been 90 % luck.

what if you do it again - and next time you find yourself in a limit down market for whatever reason.

same thing somehow as desperately trying to make back a loss by risking more and more. it might work sometimes - but on the long run it will kill you and your account.

Actually, maybe you're getting this wrong "mr. pussycat" - Most of my natural born life I was a 'winner'. I started my first business at 7, placed my first stock trade at 8, and it went from there. I've been winning competitions in almost everything ever since, and did a pretty scary educational curriculum.

I'm 21 years old, a well-known Jewellery Designer, Computer Scientist and succesful Day Trader through my 'loser' efforts. So why not help others and save them a bit of pain on the way huh?

What are you? Who are you? Are you giving me bull because I criticized you for being mr.market's best friend???
You're probably his alter ego!

Just looking at your plethora of useless posts should be enough to show what you are, not to even speak of your name LOL! You're probably still living with your mummy!

Besides, I wasn't being cocky, but supposedly constructive and trying to help, which is something you've never even tried on these boards. Get a life and get back to flipping burgers. This is not your domain.

Sincerely,

Gordon,

Thanks for the PM. I can see from reading your words that you are actually proceeding with an everyday action plan. Here's a little weekend humor, have a good one!

Beating a Dead Horse

Dakota tribal wisdom says that when you discover you are riding a dead horse, the best strategy is to dismount. However, in business we often try other strategies with dead horses, including the following:

1. Buying a stronger whip.
2. Changing riders.
3. Say things like, "This is the way we have always ridden this horse."
4. Appointing a committee to study the horse.
5. Arranging to visit other sites to see how they ride dead horses.
6. Increasing the standards to ride dead horses.
7. Appointing a tiger team to revive the dead horse.
8. Creating a training session to increase our riding ability.
9. Comparing the state of dead horses in todays environment.
10. Change the requirements declaring that "This horse is not dead."
11. Hire contractors to ride the dead horse.
12. Harnessing several dead horses together for increased speed.
13. Declaring that "No horse is too dead to beat."
14. Providing additional funding to increase the horse's performance.
15. Do a Cost Analysis study to see if contractors can ride it cheaper.
16. Purchase a product to make dead horses run faster.
17. Declare the horse is "better, faster and cheaper" dead.
18. Form a quality circle to find uses for dead horses.
19. Revisit the performance requirements for horses.
20. Say this horse was procured with cost as an independent variable.
21. Promote the dead horse to a supervisory position.
