to destriero (and all others that can help)

Congrats, the little you think you know about me ,is a boatload more than you know about vol..

4660 posts, and you still ask if traders make money trading short vol?????

"Do you really profit from vol. when you are shorting vol.?"

WTF you mental midget.Just quit while you are behind...

Ok now I know why you are a former head trader (can't believe you made it to be a head trader) in equity derivatives if what you claim is ever true. You haven't the slightest idea about volatility or trading with it. LOL

I will let your idol dest educate you. He's got some major work cut out for him. I am done responding to you.

Don't really want to respond to @taowave's trolling posts but just want to clarify what I was saying in my previous posts.

Do you really profit from an increase in vol. when you are shorting vol.?

That's what I meant to say. Hope it's more clearer to everyone. @taowave might have understood what I was trying to say anyway but still wanted to pick on it for a reason to troll. Anyway...

Its possible if you earn from a twist in the term structure. You can be short vol in one leg and long vol in another such that you are net short vol and still earn on the long vol because the term twists.

Same thing can happen with a skew position. You can have vol go up but it doesn’t matter if you are at your long strike when it does, though your position 5 minutes ago was short vol.
