TN Democrats son questioned about Palin's hacked email

One nutcase affirmative action judge makes a clearly political ruling that is summarily tossed out on appeal and dave acts like she was one of the Founders.

Dave, maybe now that that Meadows psycho has her own show, you can be on Olbermann. You'd fit right in.

No citation is given, nor evidence provided for that accusaton that she was a member of the ACLU. (That's the problem with Wikipedia) However, she was a member of a group, and that group once donated money to the ACLU. That's only two degrees on separation from conflict of interest.

Also, the case was dismissed for lack of standing, not on merit. The EFF is now taking up the flag and suing.

All the Bush administration has to do is to run out the clock.

So in other words, the NSA program is not illegal? :D

That would carry a lot more weight if Bush hadn't said that legally wiretaps require court orders.

Fair enough, you want to dismiss a court decision which was dismissed due to lack of standing, but how do you dismiss Bush when you're defending Bush?

No, it's clearly illegal. In addition to that court decision and Bush's statements, ANOTHER judge, Judge Vaughn Walker stated in his decision (where the only reason that the plaintiffs DID have standing was because the government didn't seize their documents fast enough) -- he said:

"Congress appears clearly to have intended to -- and did -- establish the exclusive means for foreign intelligence surveillance activities to be conducted. Whatever power the executive may otherwise have had in this regard, FISA limits the power of the executive branch to conduct such activities and it limits the executive branch’s authority to assert the state secrets privilege in response to challenges to the legality of its foreign intelligence surveillance activities."

And before you guys ad hom him, he was appointed by George H. W. Bush.

Not to worry, though, congress retroactively passed a law granting telecomm immunity a few days later -- in violation of the constitution which states that congress shall pass no ex post facto laws.

Truly a proud moment for the country.

So although I oppose it, I'm not going to worry about Palin's emails being hacked. It's a free for all, blessed by every Republican voter.

Quote from Arnie:

So you still can't cite an appelate or Supreme Court ruling that says its illegal. If so, please post a link.

Well that's true, other than the law, Bush's statements, and two court decisions, there's nothing at all.

Not sure how you can slam your eyes closed so well.

But hey, if it's legal, then Palin should have no problems with this.

After all, there aren't any appelate or Supreme court decisions saying that we can't read her emails.

Getting back to the thread. The son of an Obama supporting Democrat State rep is the guilty hacker. He'll be punished-I'm sure severely- but more so I hope gawker.com and the like get a shotgun up their ass. They're as complicit as EBAY is when fake or stolen goods are sold. Even more so because EBAY just failed to police their site unlike those who knowinglypublished illegally obtained emails and addresses. If I was AG I'd send a chill down the blogosphere.
Quote from bigdavediode:

Not at all actually. According to Bush wiretapping requires a warrant.

"District Court Judge Anna Diggs Taylor ruled the NSA program violates the First Amendment, the Fourth Amendment, and the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act in her ACLU v. NSA decision. "It was never the intent of the Framers to give the President such unfettered control," Taylor wrote in the decision, "particularly where his actions blatantly disregard the parameters clearly enumerated in the Bill of Rights."

I'm afraid you're very confused about what we're discussing.

"Now, by the way, any time you hear the United States government talking about wiretap, it requires — a wiretap requires a court order. Nothing has changed, by the way. When we’re talking about chasing down terrorists, we’re talking about getting a court order before we do so. It’s important for our fellow citizens to understand, when you think Patriot Act, constitutional guarantees are in place when it comes to doing what is necessary to protect our homeland, because we value the Constitution." -- George W. Bush

(SNIP)

"Yesterday the existence of this secret program was revealed in media reports, after being improperly provided to news organizations. As a result, our enemies have learned information they should not have, and the unauthorized disclosure of this effort damages our national security and puts our citizens at risk." -- George W. Bush

Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pennsylvania, said such behavior by the executive branch "can't be condoned,"

John Dean said, of the illegal, unapproved wiretaps: "In acting here without congressional approval, Bush has underlined that his presidency is unchecked -- in his and his attorneys' views utterly above the law."

Freedom, glorious freeeeeeedom...

You know, as shocking as this may be to you, Republicans won't be in power forever, and the power you give the government now will be held by the Democrats eventually.

Think about that.

Think about that.

And they'll use it in a more intrusive manner than the GOP. I can already see that in Europe and vis a vis recent incidents like the Palin hacking and the Milt Rosenberg hazing.

The difference is this: The left will seek to enact laws reducing political opposition speech. The right will use power to resist. Anytime the left wants to bring the class war and cultural war into an actual fighting war the right will be willing and ready. One Tim McVeigh can take out a thousand Alan Dershowitz's......

Son Of Memphis Democratic Rep. Admits He's The Palin Hacker
By Michele Masterson, ChannelWeb
12:10 PM EDT Fri. Sep. 19, 2008 Democratic Rep. Mike Kernell of Tennessee unveiled the hacker who broke into Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin's e-mail—his 20-year-old son, David Kernell.

There are some people saying he was affiliated with the campaign, whethere he was or wasn't I don't know. Apparently it's through a connection from some other guy.

That may or may not be true but what is true is that it was done by the son of a democratic rep.

Quote from bigdavediode:

Who did he admit this to?

Who is saying that there are ties between him and the Obama campaign?
