Tired of unavailable shorts at IB

Quote from NKNY:

Ok out of the above stocks the following are available to short with at least 1000 shares at Redsky.

ALXN, BTRX, CRA, DUSA, ENZ, NABI, RIGL thats 7 out of 10 to IB's 6 out of 10

they have ALXN that IB didn't have.

I was also told that all 7 stocks were available with both of their clearing firms, SW securities and Merrill.

I wish they had their list on there website so I could check stocks without bothering the redsky people. But in any event I have a feeling they beat IB in the shorting department.

Those comparisons are a week apart, you should make comparisons at the same time.

At the 12th, IB had the following:

ALXN, BTRX, CRA, DUSA, ENZ, MNKD, NABI, RIGL - that's 8 out of 10.

Wow, thanks for the info steve....

I wish I could have made the comparisons on the same day but unfortunately I don't have access to the redsky shortlist and had to rely on email which took a bit of time.

RedSky has Merrill in addition to Southwest?

Yes...

I the min for a merrill account is 25,000 while the sws is 10,000

I really like redsky but the one thing I need is batch trade capability.

I need to enter multiple stocks of 12 to 20 to execute at a later time at once. Otherwise when the time comes for me to execute them I would be going nuts...lol

They did say they will be adding it in the future.

The last time I checked, account minimum was $50K. Or are you talking about prop trading? The $50K was for retail accounts.

Hi Toonces...

I went back and re read my email... Its actually $30,000 for ML

I guess I was thinking of the PDT number when I wrote the post...

10,000 for sws and 30,000 through ML

Anybody have any experience with ML ?

for whatever reason today's IB short list is ....pretty short...for whatever reason it's about 7K+ securities in it vs 10K+ their "typical" or average inventory. lots of short orders are rejected..i guess they know better where is the market about to go..maybe i should start working on "system" based on IB short inventory?
