Timmay Gets Bitch Slapped

Quote from William Rennick:

LOL,
reminds me of Fran Tarkington scrambling to avoid the safety, maybe I should say Theisman before Lawrence Taylor bitch snapped his leg. I have that on tape, sounds like a rifle shot when that thing snapped. One of best best NFL moments ever. lol:cool: Theisman was such an asshole. Crowd down at the Rusty Nail went wild when they replayed it.

Rennick Cosell out:D :p

Rusty Nail? NB Rusty Nail? If so, ah my youth!

A couple of observations.

(1) turning 12k into 1m is a notable achievement

(2) the difficult thing about trading success is to continue being a success. The true guide of trading success is longetivity. Great traders are people like Soros who have had that success, of double digit returns, over 20+ years.

(3) I have noted that many of the best traders do not court publicity or appear on tv as a guru. In fact, they often do anything to avoid publicity. There are many examples of this.

So I see my post on page 27 has gotten some people emotional over the fact that I seem too nice towards Tim Sykes.

I find it humorous that someone claimed that I have been "inspired" by Tim. I assume this person believes that because I bought Tim's book. The reason I bought the book is because I am a investing junky. I generally read investing books based on fundamental analysis and value investing (Peter Lynch, Benjamin Graham, Warren Buffet). To expand my knowledge on investing I have also read about Forex, Real Estate, Commodities, etc. I also have read about technical analysis (Getting Started in Chart Patterns and Day Trading for Dummies). After I read the technical analysis stuff, I remember googling day traders and somehow came across Tim's name. And yes, I typed Tim's name in You Tube and saw some of his clips from Bloomberg or w.e. I do find it interesting that at his age he manages a hedge fund. If you disagree, than maybe I am inspired. Im 21 and I sure as hell wish I could run a hedge fun 3 years from now.

Anyways, I just thought it was cool he made that much money before he even finished college. But I should let you know that I AM NOT EVEN A DAY TRADER. I rarely use Technical analysis/ except for long-term market/industry trends. I rarely short stocks. What I do is long stocks using the buy and hold strategy, so I guess you can call me a investor. I'm into IPOs.

If anyone cares, the reason I did join this website is because on Friday when I was interning at Merrill Lynch, I was bored as hell and on my computer Elite Trader.com was in the browser. I checked it out and randomly read some of the forums. I scrolled down and came across Tim Syke's gets Bitch slapped forum......I remembered his name so I read the posts. When I got home I signed up on the site because it had other interesting forums. And eventually I decided to post something about Tim. And yea, I felt bad for him cause it was so negative. I also think it was f-ed up for the magazine to invite him and then just reject him.

Still, I think it is pretty ridiculous at the amount of money he made. Im a college senior and if I made that money I am sure I would be somewhat more cocky. I hope this long and somewhat pointless post clarifies some people's perception of my last comments.

Im sure it wont hurt me when I read his book. I only like reading non-fiction anyways. Maybe i'll learn something new. If the book sucks, I'll post again and let you know

The book doesn't suck. Most people here are putting it down because Tim is young, successful, TV star and has made more money than most jrekoffs here would ever make.

Of course, us young guys need to stick together and review the book based on merit, not on if the author is cocky, or is more successful than someone else is.

Again, if we want a peep out of you, we will pull your head out of Tim's ass.
For now, stay in there.

(now you can go back to PM me nasty stuff - I love it)

if he didn't hedged he would have lost half of it.

the problem is that these hedge fund investors want high reward with no risk...

no such thing as free lunch.

Lost 1/3 of its value!! And wonders why he was not invited to the party. Wah!

only 33% loss

these freeloading investors want 100% return in one year

Quote from monty21:

I sort of feel bad for Tim. At the same time, it is pretty ridiculous that his fund went down 33%. He blames a restricted stock for this fault. The only way one stock can cause such a dramatic loss is a huge position and/or lack of diversification. I remember Tim being anti-diversification. If this were the case, I guess he learned his lesson.

On the other hand, it is pretty amazing that he transformed $12,000 to over a million. Regardless of his cocky and arrogant behavior, that is impressive. Im sure more than luck was involved to achieve such gain.

P.S. I ordered his book online like two days ago, but have yet to receive it. It's 20 bucks and thought it might be entertaining to read how he made his million. I do think he should have obviously focused more on his fund though, rather than publicize his book. I can't believe what his investors must be feeling after the fund sunk and he tries to remain in the spotlight. Additionally, how much money is he really going to make off his book?

2 million idollars these days is peanuts okay.. almost embarrassing

Yeah right! I love how you assume anybody who doesn't rip on me is me in disguise! I have no idea who this guy is, but I hope he continues posting, especially after he gets the book.

Seriously guys, don't trade, you have horrific analytical skills.
