Bigger Than The War In Iraq: “30 Under 30” Imbroglio Continues
A representative from the “Trader Monthly” community just called to let us know that Tim Sykes was disinvited from the mag’s Tuesday night party for reasons greater than “the pink bathrobe.” They include the fact that:

a. Tim doesn’t behave like a responsible member of the financial community.

b. He showed no remorse for losing other people’s money (TM cited an e-mail from Cilantro in which the fund’s manager noted, “At least I didn’t lose double digits this month,” which Global Alpha only wishes it could say to investors).

c. Other traders didn’t want Tim at the party.

d. On this episode of Wall Street Warriors, Sykes refers to himself as a “cheap Jew.”

If Tim promises to atone for his self-loathing comments tomorrow, TM will consider allowing him to attend next year’s celebration. In other news, we’re told that Zach Michaelson was also banned from the party, and resorted similarly unsuccessful begging tactics, as well. E-mail exchanges (should they exist) TK.

You'll kinda missing the point of posting the article (which he himself posted in a separate thread);

Timmay got disinvited to a party he WANTED to attend. Wanted to go so much that he begged, nay cried, to the PTB to let him in. But they wouldn't budge. And then, he (his publicist) calls PAGE 6* and gives them this story.

This has nothing to do with his trading record, good or bad. This is about sophomoric self promotion that someone who puts himmself out there as a professional has stooped to.

You do PT Barnum proud, son.


*anyone who lives in NYC or is familiar with the Page 6 gossip column knows that the only people who call them are the publicists of the person they are promoting.

Actually my main issue was that they invited me and then disinvited me the day before the event! Very rude, disrupted all my plans, see the emails below:

You missed a key point if you made good money this year you would be invited even if they did not like you they would respect you. They still might not want the camera but you would be welcomed. When you talk you always have to back it up. If you’re a good trader be like Derek Jeter say nothing and let your record do your talking.
