Perhaps at some point in your life you can ponder why Canada has longer life expectancies, less poverty, a better education system, and less violence then the US. Are you not aware that during the "Freedom Convoy" almost no one in Canada supported those fools and their rights to disrupt the lives of some of our citizens. Our only question really was why haven't they been stomped on yet. Eventually they got cleared out. At the time, I posted that if the actions in Ottawa had occurred in Metro Toronto they'd have been cleared out within a day or two. Ottawa is more laid back people have things to do here.

Freedom is rarely absolute. Sometimes when a person exercises what they perceive as a freedom they're entitled to, they may unwittingly harm someone else. When significant numbers of people refuse to get vaccinated, the effectiveness of vaccination to prevent the spread of disease is reduced. How serious this is will depend on the morbidity associated with the disease agent being vaccinated against. If the harm done is simply an inconvenience, it may be overlooked. Beyond that, mandates may be necessary. Mandates must be issued by the government, because who else would you want to do it?

Vaccination mandates were not much of an issue in the past. We were able to virtually wipe out small pox and polio in the developed world, because there was nearly universal compliance with vaccination. Today, because ignorance and conspiracy theories are more easily propagated than in the past, public health may require persuasion in addition to a mandate.

Seizing people's bank accounts without even giving them so much as a hearing to defend themselves is just wrong.

It funny to watch the fascists here go from, "That didn't happen" to "Yeah but I hate them and want them stomped on."

Or "freedom isn't absolute" as if that is some sort of excuse for their behavior. We are talking about basic rules of civilized behavior that go all the way back to the Magna Carta. Either Canada has a functioning legal system that provides basic protections to those accused of crimes or it does not.

It's sad to watch the lack of basic critical thought here. Historical discrimination against various groups is common knowledge, but it's as if the notion the government should have any checks and balances on its behavior is completely foreign to them.

It's like their hatred of anyone different than them has destroyed all capacity for introspection or even examination of history.
