Even if you could buy a Santelli top in rates, the govt would buy them back before maturity, perhaps within 3 years. It won't matter whether or not they're assumed to be non-callable. They can do whatever they want. It will be called "special circumstances". Still, it would be a great time to buy and get what you can out of it.

The difference between having your money frozen, and being given 2 weeks notice that you need to find another bank is the difference between losing your house and being out on the street.
Also in the case of the UK at least one bank exec has lost their job over their discrimination. There seems to have been no one held to account in Canada, which means plan on it happening again.

There can be no question that all of Canada has gone insane! The iron-clad proof of this was recently made clear to me. In July, I was forced to endure a week in Canada. I was staying at the Fairmont, horrible hotel --- Muslims everywhere you looked --- smack dab in the middle of downtown Montreal, a city of a million plus poor starving souls. To give you an idea of just how far Canada has sunk, I did not hear a single car honk or siren the entire time I was there, and not even one incidence of the screeching of brakes or crunching of metal. And where is the trash? It was not to be found. Can you imagine?, millions of sanitation workers apparently unemployed.
