Time to buy Turkish stocks?

Need to see more panic spread to everything else. Reminds me a lot of Ruble collapse summer of 98 I believe. You had plenty of time to buy there too. When it reaches the cover of the magazines in the checkout aisle you might want to dip your toe in a bit. Currently short Euro from this am.

I'm not really buying it now but I'm raising the question, is it time to buy? What are the pro and cons? At 8 times earnings and with blood on the streets, that's a position that makes sense. At the very least, one would be covering shorts
 
You can buy.
Then after buying, you see your friends who trade other things
earning tons of money , while you might suffer countless sleepless nights.
 
No matter how low the share prices compared to past history or any fundamental parameter, you'd still be buying into weak companies in a weak economy in an unpredictable jurisdiction with an illicit and repressive dictator applying an aggressive and unpredictable foreign policy including the use of significant military force.

Might there not be a better play in the event of an improvement in the Turkish situation and easing of geo-political risk in this region?

There was a time when the financial center and most stable and prosperous nation in the Middle East was a little place called Lebanon. So stable and so prosperous that many of the top families were trapped there initially during the civil war because they were so certain that it couldn't happen there that they didn't even make any preparations to leave.

Don't forget, it can always get worse. Especially when religious zealots are in power.
