For the record, I have always been against the Moscow Mitch incarnation of the filibuster! In my opinion it is in clear conflict with the Senate's duties as prescribed by the Constitution. The "standing filibuster" as in Strom Thurmond's day, is not, I believe, in violation, at least not in clear violation. Though I'm not sure I'm in favor of it either.
Imagine if the filibuster were ended with Republicans in charge and what they could pass.
Imagine thinking Republicans would not end the filibuster if they had no bipartisanship in the Senate and a simple majority.
Not to worry, knowing Dems, they'll end the filibuster just in time to lose the midterms
They had no bipartisanship when they had full control for 2 years from 2017-2018. Not saying they had a lot of good ideas, but there's not a lot of overlap to pass major legislation.

Lolwut? Whatever bills Trump put up were given a fair bipartisanship shake. Not the Dems fault that he wanted to rule by executive decree. How many of the 400+ bills introduced by Dems died on McConnell's desk?

Republicans don’t want to govern. They like tax cuts and activist judges. They probably don’t even trust themselves with the ability to pass legislation because their actual policies don’t have the support of the majority of Americans.
Take for example Obamacare. They claimed repeal and replace for what, a decade? But have you ever actually seen any legislation proposed by Republicans, no. They wouldn’t even know where to start as a party.
Long story short, Republicans are all set with not having a cloture vote for judges and tax cuts but they don’t want any legislation to pass in the senate.

Either way you still need 60 votes after its done
The question is ending the filibuster, which means no one can get up and talk, 51 votes ends all discussions immediately
Like the house , simple majority (mob) rules
No committees, no hearings, no amendments just straight to a partisan vote,,,ie covid bill..impeachment...HR 1....plus hundreds more

So let’s be clear here, the so called filibuster is a self imposed ruled that is not stipulated in the constitution. The filibuster was first used in like 1835 and was rarely used until the civil rights era and after.
It has been growing in frequency since then and has basically stopped America in its tracks. The deliberative nature of the senate is in its small numbers. The number of senators IS defined in the constitution as opposed to the House which has not been expanded since the 1920s or so. (The House is a whole other matter that deserves attention.)
The point is you believe the filibuster is something that it is not. And this belief is actually hurting the country. If we ran our government as intended, it would better serve the country.
