I wasn't happy with Tillerson's appointment. As time went on, however, he seemed to exhibit, from my point of view, good sense and independence. Still I would much prefer trump had appointed someone personable, like Tillerson, but with more knowledge of State Department operations. In retrospect, I think it was Tillerson's business dealings with Russians that Attracted Trump to Tillerson. Tillerson proved not to be the kind of sycophant Trump is subconsciously seeking for his administration. I am sorry to see Tillerson go. One of the last independent voices in the administration -- something demagogues can not tolerate.
I don't know much about Pompeo, but don't like what I do know. I anticipate his tenure at State will be disastrous.
Trump, like any clinical narcissist, can be expected to drive competent individuals away. The only people that will remain for long will be those without options or self-respect, or those whose personal interests somehow, however bizarrely, align with Trump's.
