Gen Z is already old, now we are at the end of Gen A (alpha) 2009-2024... Gen B 2025-2039.
It would suck for a man to say I am Beta! Alpha is cool, Y and Z too wakey and confused.
The Chinese have blocked US web services from the Chinese internet.
They do not. They whine a lot but they do not vote. And those few thousand tik-tokers who actually make money doesn't make a difference.

The "Tiktok ban" is just a trojan horse to give the government even more powers of surveillance and control. I think China is a dire threat, but the idea that Tiktok is a manifestation of that threat is idiotic. As if Google, Facebook et al don't routinely interfere in elections, control information, push lunatic propaganda aimed at destroying Western civ etc. etc. As if the government, academia, and industry aren't already shot through with Chinese spies. As if we don't rely on compromised Chinese tech to run our computer systems, even our port cranes.
Since it's basically an alliance of the leftist Deep State and the moral-panic right, odds of the ban passing are extremely high.

The proposed legislation involves at least two different things, if ByteDance does not divest itself of Tik Tok:
(1) App stores will be prohibited from offering the app as a download; and
(2) Internet service providers will be prohibited from... what? From allowing the app to operate on their network?
Users will still be able to access Tik Tok in a browser. There will be workarounds.
The first part, banning Apple and Google from carrying the app on their platform, is pretty easy. It may or may not be unconstitutional, but that part of the law would be pretty easy to enforce.
The second part seems almost impossible to me.
But yes, if you can't download the app the normal way, Tik Tok will lose a lot of users.

Tiktok is no different from Facebook, Instagram, You Tube. They should sell the company to an American company and then, all the bogus spying allegations can be put to rest. Facebook has been spying on its users as well as You Tube but, most Americans do not even know that! Google also, tracks your buying habits and your browsing too.
