Quote from ElectricSavant:
P.S. I take the business of trading seriously and realize that competition against other traders REFLECTED ON THE CHARTS is a factor, but competion of two egomaniacs is destructive...Is everybody like this in Australia? This must be embarrassing...What is there to prove, if you are successful at trading? You guys must be bored...or perhaps you do not trade at all? Scientist? And after you come down from your hangover Wavetrader read this thread tomorrow...embarrassed yet?
Electric, you just don't get it, do you?
This is not about ego-boosting. Although that is a factor, as one of us will inevitably bite the dust on this comp. But who, is totally uncertain at this point, nor does it matter.
What is certain, however, is the fact that both of us - and possibly quite a few room members - are going to LEARN something from this. As with anything in trading (or life), learning opportunity is the major factor. This is going to be a great learning opportunity one way or another. No matter who wins, we both win.
Has that ever occurred to you? Or you think this is just a big ego trip thing? You really do, don't you? Yeah, because that's how YOU are.
Want a list of reasons why I made this challenge:
- Bryce and I might both learn something
- The people on ET might learn something
- Either of us will expand their horizon in some sort of way
- Bryce can prove his credibility publicly (one way or another, this will show that he's a good trader)
- I can test my own trading under "competitive" conditions
- I can re-polish my skills on the ES
- Bryce can re-polish his skills on the ER2
You see, for me, there is no way to lose in this game. I have already won before I've started, for above reasons.
Do I care if I will win this comp? Actually, you'd be surprised to hear that I don't give a sh*t. It doesn't matter. Just like when I put on a trade, it doesn't matter to me if it wins or loses. Winner - fine. Loser - great, next one. Move on. It's as simple as that. But one way or another, you (should) learn something from every trade or bet or comp you enter. You only learn by doing it.
This is how I look at it. That is why I don't mind putting up a challenge. I have long seen that all of us can only win. I have already won, and so has Bryce. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil. And I'm sure we're gonna have a great time one way or another.
Wonder just how many people ever thought about it this way. Everybody making negative comments on this thread, while we are actually doing something. We're testing our ideas, and putting up our credibility in the process. What are you guys doing, except shouting from your peanut galleries? You trolls would be crushed in this competition, by either or both of us. We know we can trade, and we're willing to put it to the test. You are just talking heads.
When I read some of Bryce's first posts, I knew straight away that I had found a serious match. I didn't criticize him, and I offered him to join my buddy list, via PM, long before this started. I think that one way or another, this could be the beginning of an interesting friendship.
Best Regards,
S
