Tiger Woods - your perception

Quote from DHOHHI:

I took up golf at age 12 and was playing scratch golf by age 17. I also grew up caddieing at a country club and even caddied in one of the Big 4 events (prior to the tour allowing tour caddies at these events). So I understand golf etiquette. I also grew up in the 70's with Palmer, Nicklaus, Player, Watson, etc. Players back then respected the game. Their emotions were kept more in check.

Today the game has changed. Players act like immature spoiled brats. Profanity abounds. They throw clubs. Not just Tiger but clearly he's under the microscope the most due to his standing in golf.

Tiger has helped the game if you look at it from a financial perspective. You have more golf fans -- no, make that more people at PGA events. Sadly, many don't know a 2 iron from a wedge. Many are there to drink beer, yell "go in the hole" when Tiger tees off on a par 5 and generally show their lack of golf etiquette. But the financial gain for the tour is big. And we'll likely continue to see Tiger fans at events he plays in.

On the flip side Tiger is an embarrassment when he swears and throws clubs. Little kids attending a tournament don't need to see such behavior. It suggests that is acceptable behavior on the course and kids will emulate this. Funny, how Tom Watson didn't blow up last summer when the British Open slipped away from him on the 72nd hole and the eventual playoff.

I get having respect for the game and showing some class but at the end of the day (i hate that saying :D ) it is VERY competitive and high stakes are involved. Isn't losing your cool just part of sport and competition, at least you know the guy has the fire inside.

IDK, I think he certainly needs to cool it on f this and f that but getting pissed in sports is normal.

The reason it pisses me off is because it sets a bad example, and all of a sudden you see more and more people behaving like this at a course, have you ever gotten paired up with someone else when there is only 2 of you only to have some dipshit golfing with you who slams his clubs around and swears all day? It is frigging annoying, and it ruins the whole day, especially given the fact that you are paying atleast a couple hundred dollars to be out there, (plus beer money) and you have to put up with some whiny douchebag for 4 hours. And the funny thing is half the time when this happens its some clown who isnt even going to break 100 anyways, who just takes it way to seriously.

Tiger is taking it out on himself with those displays. Which is fair game. At least I think he's giving up the arm pumping. Didn't care for that when Jimmy Connors did it either; now Born (sp?) was a class act. How about the days of Ainge, McHale and Celtic's
fans. They were the worst.

Babe Ruth was a drunk and a male slut.

Ty Cobb was a real bastard.

Pete Rose gambled on his own team to win.

Lawrence Tayor loved the coke.

Dale Earnhardt wasn't that great of a father in his younger days.

Big deal.

So, Tiger Woods availed himself of the opportunities presented to him, and I couldn't care less.

Each of the above sport 'heros' engaged in some sort of transgression during their careers, yet each, reached the pinnacle of success in their respective fields.

The very fact that people speak of Tiger Woods' ability in the same breath as Nicklaus, Palmer, Hogen and Watson says all that needs to be said. Will Tiger surpass the accomplishments of these men? I'd certainly like to think so, but I'll enjoy watching the effort to do so irrespective of the outcome and irrespective of what sort of 'family life' the guy has.

Every time Tiger Woods enters a tournament, you have the opportunity to witness sports history as it unfolds.

With respect to Tiger's 'temperment' on the course, well, stop pointing the microphones at him (after he quacks one hard left) and people won't have to hear that which offends them.

Which is exactly why, if you read my last post, I said he needs to quit trying to be someone he clearly is not. Tiger himself (not the media, not his caddy, not his mom) said he wants to be fan friendly, ie...show less emotion on the course, and be a better person. He has proven incapable of doing so. It's not his nature nor his personality. If he's going to be a 'male slut' or a real 'bastard' then be just that, and don't give it to me half assed. Don't do commercials where you are trying to appear remorseful, don't tell your followers that you are a changed man, don't say you believe in your religious values if you do not, don't say your temper on the course is over with when it never will be....don't be an impostor.

I would have more respect for the guy if came out and said look 'I shouldn't be married, I love the fame and its perks. It's not in my competitive nature to act like I'm a robot on the golf course. Hate me or love me, I don't care. This is who I am.' Great. Grand. Wonderful. Let's move on. But instead he continuously says he's changed for the 'better', he's being treated at a rehab clinic, no more outbursts on the course....yadda yadda. Stop being a hypocrite and people will stop talking about it.

All these famous athletes, actors and other celebrities...we eventually get to see their dirty laundry. It's inevitable with all the temptations thrown at their feet on a consistent basis.

Besides, doesn't every guy fantasize about sticking it to a porn star. :D

Regardless, I bet he won't remarried after a divorce gets finalized. His late night booty calls will return but he'll definitely be more selective via picking someone that has just as much to lose if the media finds out. For example, I wouldn't be surprise the next batch of females are married or women in career positions that can't afford bad publicity.

Anyways, had he cheated with only one woman...I think his spouse would have forgiven him (no divorce). However, multiple women and one a porn star and another while the wife was pregnant or just had a baby...

Women don't get over that type of crap especially when they can start their lives over again with a ton of money in their pocket for the rest of their lives as part of a divorce settlement. In fact, I don't think the media will get off his back until he gets divorce and they'll probably leave him alone when he resumes his late night booty calls as a single guy.

Last of all, I still think his wife kicked his butt that night he crashed his car or he went crazy mad after one of his "easy booty" gals decided to call and tell the wife what's going on with the Tiger. As for his "I'm a changed person" comments...he's still doing rehab stuff...it's too soon for that type of talk and I was surprise he's been saying that. Maybe it's sponsors asking him to say it.

Quote from Covertibility:

Eh, what am I missing here? Elin is dull; the other girls looked a helluva lot better. He also made $110 million last year; this golf thing is just a silly hobby. I gotta say Elin is one dumb bitch, then again she's nothing more than a golddigger anyway.
Elin is the mother of his children, he met her because she was a nanny for Jesper Parneviks children, the others girls are/were whores/fun.

Quote from Ghost of Cutten:

Let's see - he is fairly young, in good physical shape, at the top of his profession, makes shitloads of money, and has repeatedly fucked at least a dozen fairly hot women in the last couple of years. Call me strange, but I'm struggling to see the downside here...

Tiger's only problems are i) he got married whilst living in a country with feminazi divorce laws ii) he actually seems to think he did something wrong by pleasuring the numerous young sluts that threw themselves at him iii) he cares about what a bunch of fat underachieving losers and 3rd rate bloggers/gossip columnists/failed journalists say or think about him.

Once he gets divorced, he should just stay single and have fun, like George Clooney. No wife, no kids, no problems.
You missed the fact that he`s got children, and fucking whores can be fun, but it ain`t all that.

Tiger Woods,,,I FUCKED HIM...DAAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
