In fatal attacks this weekend, a woman was killed and a gunman was among two others wounded in a shootout Friday night in Chinatown, the police said.
A second woman, 42, was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center with a gunshot wound to her hand, police said. She was listed in good condition. One of the gunmen, a 38-year-old man, was shot in the buttocks and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was in critical condition.
Two women, 24 and 30, both suffered multiple gunshots to the body and initially went to Jackson Park Hospital before going to the University of Chicago Medical Center, police said. The younger woman’s condition was stabilized and the older woman was in good condition.
A woman in her 20s was hit in the leg and taken to the same hospital in good condition, police said.
Another woman, 36, and a man, 41, both suffered gunshot wounds to the back, police said. The pair were transported to Stroger Hospital in good condition, police said.
A 90-year-old man was hospitalized in critical condition after he was shot Saturday morning in North Lawndale.
A 10-year-old was wounded while sitting inside his bedroom Sunday night when bullets were shot through the side of his home in Englewood. The boy was in his bedroom about 10:40 p.m. in the 600 block of West Englewood Avenue when he felt pain, police said.
A 17-year-old girl was among two people shot and wounded early Sunday in Bronzeville on the South Side.
The teen and a woman were standing outside about 12:45 a.m. in the 3700 block of South Langley Avenue when someone started shooting, striking them both, police said.
The girl was struck once in an arm, and the 42-year-old woman was shot in a foot, officials said. They went to the University of Chicago Medical Center and were both in fair condition.

We need to get rid of the criminal justice system and replace it with a criminal deterrence system. Justice is just another word for revenge. This should not be the purpose of a prison. Prisons should exist to keep law abiding citizens safe, deters people from committing crimes, and reforms criminals so that they can become productive members when they return to society. This means no maximum sentence. People have to show they've changed to get out of prison. What's the point of letting people out of prison if 80% will be back within the next 10 years?
We also need to enforce RICO laws on all gangs in the United States. Anybody, who's proven to be an active member of any criminal organization should be in prison.
I also think poorer people need better resources at schools. There's a huge gap in the opportunity kids have in rich towns vs. poor towns.

There's a lot of collateral damage. Kids are often killed in the cross fire. These sickos open fire without regard of who's around. Some of this violence has even been happening in the Loop, not just hood. There's a serious problem with gang violence in this country. It happens everyday so it doesn't make the news like the deranged lone wolf shooting up random people does. Even though that's a twice a month thing now too.
