Merely an observation, and I'm sure none of us could care less--- but ya know what they do in a way--- they create divisions where no divisions need to be. Give one person (person "A") a like that someone else (say another person you really respect----person "B") has voiced serious and more than likely emotionally based objections to the opinions of person "A" with.... and it can establish a wall between yourself and (in this example person "B")... even though both are well respected.

It's not soley an ET thing, it's an internet forum thing in general.

I think what you're in principle saying Van-my-Man is that non trading related threads can cause divisions.

Exactly. But using "trading" as a box for this and ET as your sole test-bed---> No.
You are not looking deep enough. Shallow thinking.

Like I said, it's an internet thing.
Let the student shrinks delve into it and write dissertations about it, because it is a very real phenomenon across all websites that support and allow for opinions, not just ET.
