Thoughts on new law?

Quote from Bitstream:

it really beggars belief.

another disgusting display from da neocons cocksuckers.

Its unbelievable. Sickening even.

Have a plan B for when the inevitable happens?

Quote from achilles28:

Since Clinton fucked our rights, its ok if Bush does too?

Terrifying.

Unfortunately, the vast majority of Americans regard their precarious freedoms with the same backwards logic as you.

Try this:

Both the Left and Right will invariably grow Government and take away liberty.

That’s all they've ever done for the past 100 years.

And you so-called 'patriots' and self proclaimed enlightened pundits shrug it off and laude our leaders for exchanging your freedoms for security.

You know what Benjamin Franklin echoes to the fools who trade liberty for security?

You deserve neither and will lose both.

ECHELON predated the Clinton years by quite a bit:

Who knows what this thing is used for. The Europeans (and others) have concerns that it may be used to gather confidential economic and business intelligence.

If you want to protect your (electronic) privacy, there is no option but to use strong crytography in emails etc.

Quote from Pa(b)st Prime:

Do you think law enforcement requires a warrant to open a letter suspected of anthrax contamination or needs a judges permission to open a parcel containing a bomb? Does this law strike you as something new?

You crack me up, EqtTrdr. Apparently you have little problem with tangible assaults on liberty such as mandatory checkpoints/roadblocks where one must self incriminate by submitting a breathalyzer but the notion of eavesdropping spooks you. Too funny.

I didnt state my opinion bro... I merely posted links to what I found on the net and asked for thoughts on the issue and if people agreed or disagreed with the columnist's opinion.

My opinion is worth about .01 and you would still get change back. I believe whether dems or repubs are in office the US is doomed either way..... we are a corporocracy and the people are run by the corps, the people no longer run the goverment anyway.

Quote from trader1966:

You guys are the best, the President signs a bill, already passed by both houses of Congress, and suddenly it is another Bush Conspiracy.

WOW... you are really ignorant of the laws of the land...

"Presidential signing statements are old news to anyone who has served in the White House counsel's office. Presidents have long used them to add their two cents when a law passed by Congress has provisions they do not like, yet they are not inclined to veto it. Nixon's statements, for example, often related to spending authorization laws which he felt were excessive and contrary to his fiscal policies."

You'd have to be pretty slow to believe that.

The NSA's sole duty is to collect and decipher communication intelligence.

The NSA just so happens to operate a global electronic dragnet that intercepts and collects......communication intelligence!!

And you're still wondering what they use it for?? Hopeless.
