Yup, the idea of "unbroken footsteps" means he walked, or swam the entire way, as in the entire length of it.

I didnt get it myself untill i read the journals, there were numerous instance's where he was offered a lift, (to accomadation etc) but couldnt take it if he couldn't get back to where he was, to "fill in" the steps if you like.

To illustrate, leaving for russia-he got there, but had to stop for visa/regulation snafu, so he had to leave-then go back later, to pick up where he left off.

Why he didnt just marry the columbian broad and be done with it i dont know, but if he finishes it........what a bloody legend!

Oh, he leaves that largely to the readers imagination.
He went out of his way to avoid FARC in columbia though.:D
Given he could scarcely afford to eat, the festering blisters, rashes and sores, pulling 20 mile days with 180pounds+ of gear, sleeping commando most of the way, smelling not terribly good im sure, salt encrusted, rotting clothes, poor spanish......yeah, im sure he did great in that department.:)

That reminds me. One of the benefits of dating a homeless woman is, after the date is over, you can pretty much drop her off anywhere.
 
Yes, and now might be a good time to remind people, NEVER take a first date to a soup kitchen for a meal, as tempting financially as it may seem.

You ever wish you could go back and edit posts, after the time limit?
Sure, everyone has clanger's and missed typo's, but the perfect phrase often doesnt appear until well after.
For example, in my reveiw of "300", which was f#n great, i wrote this;



"Further, the casting was exemplary-gerald butler was perfect, absolutely perfect for this role, entirely beleivable , dynamic, against the backdrop of this highly animated world.
It has to be said many others were great too, with the dialogue they had to work with-i loved this movie, i suspect an instant cult classic, 4 stars from 5, even for no other reason than they didnt roll out the usual "stars" for it, and tried an original approach.

Thank f#k ben affleck wasnt in this movie"

Now, "highly animated world", wtf is that? Its not tom and jerry, or the freakin muppet show , entirely expressionless and blase.
Like something a talentless hack from the local rag might write in their coffee break, after dredging the blogs for new expressions and copy paste quotes.

Now, replacing that phrase with "against the backdrop of this red-mist ochre" it becomes meaningfull, i think.
Assuming the target audience knows what ochre is, maybe its a stretch but im sure it sounds better.

Another plug actually, something i missed about 300 straight away, David Wenham (aussie actor) did a great job in this, and was pretty damn good in a number of low budget ozzy movies-he's world famous in melbourne, im sure he'd be getting more work after this.

Jeepers, its slow in here tonight.

If i wrote a book about being bored, would bored people read it-or would it just be a bit ho-hum?

Im contemplating, counting the wood grain of a benchtop, at the moment.

And its a marble benchtop..........
 
Random thoughts on boredom.

Plenty to do, nothing sounds exciting. Think back to the memory of exciting things we've done or exciting things we could do but there are plenty of excuses to go around not to do them and stay bored. Boredom is good if you have the energy to contemplate, but it is hard to stay on track because we soon become bored with thinking.

Maybe boredom is the net result of selfcenteredness. Maybe this moment in time, it is time to share or time to give.

If you don't like people, you could plant a tree or do something to help nature. Buy some bird food and feed the birds, personally I like to get the little sugar packets from the 7-11 and open them up and put them on ant hills.

I guess if you like people, you might go out in the world and offer up random acts of kindness. Compliment someone, hold the door. Find a kid and teach them something or do something a kid wants to do. Give your time. Make someone's life easier. Bite the bullet. Share or give but not money, money makes things too complicated.

Start up a conversation, listen, but don't talk. People like that in a person, being a good listener. See how long you can listen to other people problems without throwing up. Now look, you see what just happened? I got bored writing this and inevitably humor takes over, I gotta go.
 
My brain occasionally falls of a cliff. Here's how.

I be reading some good shid and half way threw the guy'll use the worrd "loose" instead of "lose". Now I'm tinking more about loose than lose. A bird will fly past my window and I wonder does spelling count?
 
Near as i can tell, steve fossett is still missing, somewhere in the badlands of nevada/california.
This guy is so wealthy, so ridiculously experienced in flying, breaking records, you name it, yet scarcely scraped in basic flying routine on this one?

It must have been like a walk to the shops for him, just didnt consider it dangerous maybe.

It's suggested he had no safety/emergency equipment on board, which is just bizarre for someone with his experience, let alone funds.

Lets just hope he's not sitting back, sipping martini's and trading flying yarns with Amelia Earhart just yet.
Although, im sure they'd get along famously.
