In a nutshell, that's what this is all about.

The result will be what's slowly occurring right now...businesses becoming liable for not having a safework environment due to those not vaccinated, increase in health insurance coverage for businesses, independent workplaces for the vaccinated that do not want to work with those that are not vaccinated, slowness in the supply chain, increasing cost of goods and many other economic problems or business problems.
  • The worst, we repeat all the above all over again when the next Variant of Concern shows up that's deadlier than the Delta Variant.
Personally, fuck those not vaccinated. Denied them medical treatment at hospitals having problems treating other patients due to capacity issues when those not vaccinated become severely sick with Covid except those under 18 years of age.

We have a chance to keep these Covid numbers low but the Pandemic will continue to disrupt daily lives from this Presidency to the next Presidency because people continue catering to those not vaccinated.

Reminder: When we were young...many of the red states pushed aggressively for vaccine mandates as a requirement to enter our primary education system (elementary) in their desperation to defeat Polio, Measles, and Chickenpox. The ways things are going, I wouldn't be surprised if that happens again if Covid is still with us causing havoc under a Republican President.

Yet, those vaccinated will be protected even though are less likely to have a breakthrough infection and less likely to spread Covid to someone else.

Last time I checked around here covid cases were dropping bigly. At the same time unvaccinated worked right next to vaccinated. ???

People have learned over the past 2weeks to flatten the curve. If you’re exposed regardless of vaccine status you quarantine. If you’re feeling bad, don’t go around anyone. Most businesses have adjusted their sick pay if you’re ill untill you test negative.

The country doesn’t need to mandate private businesses in this way. Authoritarian bs.

In 2020 politics here was hopping with R values, the number of people each person will infect on average (not home insulation value) and superspreaders, there was no disagreement on these ideas. A vaccinated superspreader is just a spreader and a normal person is barely contagious.

I agree that the Covid numbers have dramatically declined due to vaccination, vaccine mandates, and approved antiviral therapeutic treatments. Yet, you guys were warned last year that if you're not going to do what it takes to defeat Covid...
  • The government will overstep. That's exactly what they did this year after the arrival of the Delta Variant.
Reminder: The low Covid numbers have not flattened the curve and this is when the problem begins...we get complacent when the numbers are low and then we fool ourselves things are fine just like we did last year in 2020 just before the school year started.
  • Many debated in the weeks before schools re-open...the Pandemic was over because we flatten the curve. :banghead:
Next, we debate about how we do not need these requirements, lockdowns didn't work although we admitted the curve flattened, and then the numbers begin to slowly increase as the school year started.

Here we are again...now it's states like Colorado telling us there's a problem. Yet, we then open our borders, allow air travel although this time they must be fully vaccinated with proof going into the holiday cold season in which many people will come together indoors.

Like you said earlier...fully vaccinated people can spread Covid.Yet, less than those that are not vaccinated.
  • I don't think you realize this is when Variants of Concern are birthed... it's when people are moving from country to country or immune-compromised.
It then spreads and people begin the bitch all over again about how unfair it is even though the requirements have been removed but this time via the courts.

My point, this health crisis now is completely unavoidable thanks to vaccines unlike last year but we as a population are a bunch of selfish dicks not able to do our civic duty to make Covid roadkill.

I'm fully vaccinated and I'm sure I'll need a booster next year because of the behaviour of the Covidiots between now and then. Hopefully, that's it and if we're lucky...we'll know by the end of the spring in 2022 if the curve really is flattened and people suddenly become responsible.

Sadly, at some point, the government needs to stop holding the hands with tough love of those not vaccinated as life moves on without many of them here in North America...Darwinism.

Darwinism? If so, it’s going to take a bit. Covid’s CFR is .6% or so. Further, what about all those people who got Covid but had symptoms so minor they did not bother to seek medical attention? These people may be in the majority of Covid outcomes.

So the current batch of vaccines are based on the original, Covid SARS-2 strain now almost two years ago or if you prefer, three or four variants of concern ago, is still hoped to contain the spread of Covid now? Some of the vaccinated overconfident will be getting their share of “Darwin” visits soon. Boosters, you say? Bon appetite!

Here's a good explanation of what if meant by "flattening the curve" in control of any disease. You'll see it mostly about our ability to manage the hospital capacity when caring for patients admitted, ICU admissions, and availability of Doctors / Nurses.

Hospitals capacity in the United States have recently been ticking up and that's dangerous because we're now entering the cold-weather season in which people tend to gather indoors for activities especially for the upcoming holidays.

Simply, if we can slow down the transmission of Covid through the holiday season...we'll enter February of 2022 in very good shape...we can then announce we've flatten the curve when we see our healthcare system go back to normal levels.
  • In addition, it'll help tremendously in reducing the government's need to overstep in a Pandemic.
The only fear I have now about this Pandemic is that travel restrictions are now lifted in many countries in reference to being able to travel again but not in reference to vaccination passports that will remain with us for at least a few more years.
  • Vaccination Passports are good for the airlines industry too because it givens confidence in the people traveling that want to feel safe.
Regardless, travel is one of the primary route for giving birth to a Variant of Concern. What if this time when a new variant shows up...it's worst on those not vaccinated (causing more hospitalizations) and worst on those that are vaccinated (causing more infections).

The Department of Justice (DOJ) says it will "vigorously defend" the guidelines laid out by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), which seek to enforce vaccine requirements on all businesses with 100 employees or more by Jan. 4, 2022.
