half of them i wasn't even allowed to work anywhere.
it's like being on payroll after prison. one DUI(forget about something serious) and you will be deported(along with your family)
at least US citizenship test was fun-the officer looked at my papers and asked only one question: it says you aren't' working anywhere.what do you do for a living? prepared for that i showed him my last 3 tax returns . i trade for a living.. the guy like-wow! i have no further questions(about can i write or speak or whatever ),you good :)
btw-out of probably 100-150 people - i was only a white guy. rest of crowd probably from pakistan or india. they aren't' wearing any shoes and probably can climb on electric poles with their bare feet. that's how huge and ugly their nails are. wearing their saris and sandals..they will be great and productive citizens for this country.yep

The immigration laws are pretty disgusting. If it were up to me we would have an open immigration policy. You want to come here and work? Come on in.

The problem is guys like trade2live have created so much social welfare that open immigration wouldn't be very feasible.

well..they(corps) done it.. it's called H1 visa and it's pretty disgusting too..when they hire folks from 'cheap' countries and refuse to employ your own citizens..so-come and work is not that pretty ether. ask forks from IT field,if they are happy about it

The fact that he was an immigrant should tell you that he WAS lucky. Immigrants have it harder than others by definition . I have been an immigrant in several countries so I think I know what I am talking about. A smaller part of them become succesful , even fewer hugely succesful. Again luck always plays a role. Of course no denying he is brilliant, visionary hard working etc. But if you don't understand the role of luck in life and if you don't take success stories in the media with a grain of salt knowing they are romanticized, then you are a fool. And if you don't realize that keeping the American dream alive with stories like this also helps justify inequality and "the system" in the US, then you are an idiot too. The american dream is a great story but it's not the truth, not everybody has equal chance to make it . Is social democracy better ? No , I would rather be in the US , but if you are poor and unlucky social democracy may be better. Comparing Obama to social democracy or worse socialism of the Eastern block is totally off base.

I wouldn't say that luck was a big factor with him. He isn't Paulson or a speculator that hit the jackpot, he built things up from nothing one day at a time. I'd just say he's 'wicked smart' and possibly not even a sociopath like most billionaires (but who really knows).
Being an ex-Soviet citizen myself, communism really screwed things up for everyone - the effects are very long term. One thing is people like Peterffy leaving, there have been so many like him - people that could've benefited the local economies instead if the system would've been different. Soviet system also created 'Homo Sovieticus' and this group of people have a very significant adverse effect on all ex-Soviet countries, the rampant capitalism of early 90s created massive inequality and demoralized the population as well - despite what it looks like from distance, these things affect the lives of people even in 2013.
