Thomas Peterffy - INTERACTIVE BROKERS

Quote from oldtime:

ok, that's just really internet bullshit, people don't learn by being singled out and corrected. A lot of that is stuff we use to know and just haven't used in a while. Plus, there are typos. You learn by seeing it done right.

Set a good example. That is the best way to educate.

and yes, the taxes tirade was when you ignored what I was talking about and went into your prepared speech about tax rates

the argument was not about rates

we can discuss that from now till the cows come home

The argument was about the slipppery slope, this is waht the TEA (Taxed Enough Already) party is about.

If we let you raise tax even by 1%, where does it stop?

It's a slippery slope.

Now, go ahead and talk about tax rates and unleash your prepared response, since you can't read and have no comprehension what I just wrote.

Like I said, back in public school they didn't ask you what you thought about what he wrote. They asked you what he meant when he wrote it.

-Have not used in a while - People use apostrophes daily, in basic writing
-You learn by seeing it done right - Sure, just like driving
-taxes tirade - One sentence (please read definition of tirade - use properly/accordingly)
-into your prepared speech - I did not prepare anything (my political adviser prepared it :) )
-wath the TEA...- what
-where does it stop - maybe it stops there...it has before...it has also decline (prepared response)
-no comprehension what I just wrote - no comprehension OF what I just wrote.

Quote from StellarInv:

Did you mean Peterffy...wait I am looking up to see who is "Peterfly".

I am also looking up if there is a need to use an apostrophe when one writes "Peterffy's" or that other person you reference "Peterfly's"...you assume that I was deprived of the public high school as you insinuated and in my school they taught me to use the apostrophe. (note to self - request refund)

On another note I am looking for my "taxes tirade", I thought I only wrote a sentence NOT (cover....) a 'tirade'!...(may be lack of writing comprehension...hmm)

tirade = "a long angry speech of criticism or accusation".
(Long - being the operative word)

"Did you mean Peterffy...wait I am looking up to see who is "Peterfly".

don't you know how to properly attribute a statement? those remarks were made by someone else.

well finally, you're starting to come around.

where does it stop? Maybe it stops there, it has in the past

It has also declined

that is the topic

are we on a slippery slope toward socialism which will just make the rich poorer and the poor poorer?

and like I said, the conversation really isn't about socialism vs capitalism

it's about how man views the threat of any "slippery slope."

sort of like, "Ok, this one time, but no more."

and then you get screwed and say, "Never again."

btw, my dad was an English major, so there's nothing you can throw at me I wasn't already hit with

Dad, I gotta talk to you!

you mean, "I have to talk with you."

Quote from zdreg:

why don't you get back on the subject of this thread instead of asking philosophical questions, worthy of a sophomore in h.s.

thomas peterffy made a significant statement about the future of the US. which few ceos had the guts to say incl. the republican nominee for president.

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/11/04/magazine/amtrak-industrial-corridor.html?hpw&_r=0
this article is about the deindustrialization of the US.

I actually (truly) agree with the going back to the topic at hand. I do have to say that I don't think I am the one that derailed from it originally.

I didn't know that philosophical questions were only for "sophomores in h.s.". Thanking for your teachings and admirable knowledge of philosophical thought.

I think you meant to write Thomas Peterffy (caps for proper names)!

Again, it is not about guts. It is about business sense, from the point of view of a business leader expressing personal opinions. This is the reason corporations have a "Public Relations Department", so that the leaders of companies, primarily public companies know, what to do and say in public. Regardless of their PERSONAL (sorry for yelling), feelings! This being my MAIN point. He is a head of a public (publicly held company). He should not be making this type of statements.

It is not about guts, or who's dad is bigger/stronger (since for some reason you revert to answer everything in early childhood or high school terms)!:D

As for the current Republican nominee, that poor soul of a man, did not even know that some people lived middle class lives, in his younger years. PLEASE watch a PBS documentary about him (and also President Obama) and you will see how Romney could not believe that some people actually struggle and suffer in life.

BUT this is the candidate of the TEA party!!!

Oh, and just so you guys/gals know a bit about me:

I was a Republican, GOP card carrying (proud) member for most of my adult life....never again!.......I am not a Democrat either.

Ahh, yes sure, of course, I agree, certainly.... (WHAT???)

(Isn't that why I quoted the entire paragraph)

Since I have to go out and eat something, I will make this one short.

What????? (multiply by 10)

Are you saying your dad was a bad teacher or are you saying you were a bad student?...Don't worry about it, does not concern me anyway.

Chat later boys n girls. (Stay thirsty):D

BUT write back...don't hold back!

go back to your prestigous school and ask them what the plural of Bluegill is. I know out here where I live, if you call them "Bluegills" they will look at you like you don't know how to speak the King's English.

I use to hang out with a lot of rednecks, and they couldn't figure out why Mexican Americans liked to talk Spanish in America. Even though most of the rednecks were Irish or German, for some reason they thought any American should speak English.

Not sure what is so good about English. Didn't we fight two wars against them? Now we speak their language, and even bitch when other's don't do it right?

and that is the slippery slope. Next thing you know we'll all be eating eels on the Queen's Birthday.
