This week's Tradeable Events

Monday: No earnings really. German Holiday too I think. (who cares ;) ) Vehicle Sales, PMI's

Tuesday: Darden (DRI), Micron (MU) FOMC member Lacker speaks@ 805AM

Weds: Constellation Brands (STZ), Monsanto (MON), Yum.. Tons of economic stuff

Thurs: Ruby Tuesdays (RT) Employment #'s

Friday: Boring.

YUM and STZ should be good ones to play. ( up or down. flip a coin)

Ruby Tuesdays... they gotta be hurtin'. Priced in I'm sure, haven't looked.

Monsanto.... who knows. Probably down. Already priced in.

You shouldn't necessarily trade relatively rare events -- but instead have a somewhat of normal, boring, daily, game plan routine.

And don't assume, one business trading day will be exciting and another will be "Boring."
You have to truly be prepared for anything, have an open mind :confused:o_O have assumptions/direction, but loose assumptions/flexible open mind still.

Some of my best days were relatively random, normal, unexpected days...that I would have otherwise discounted them as 'boring'.

Just throwing them out there. Ya never know, it might save somebody's ass who isn't paying attention.

And yes, ...boring, "slow and steady", and having a disciplined plan are always the key to success.

But earnings reports for highly visible stocks are always fun to watch, ...at least for me. I love the conference calls too. Hear all the BS.

The prize this Q so far goes to Cracker Barrel: "People are eating at home more because food is cheap".

Excuse me... aren't 99% of your stores on interstates?

And that being said.... a few lottery tickets are always fun. Just sayin. ;)

then there is deutsche..maybe an fx thing that will correlate somehow into equities..then there is the expectations of rate increase.. crude is on a bit of a roll..not boring in the least.

Why would Monsanto's figures be of any impact while they are under a bid from Bayer?
Definately not down, that bid put's a floor in... even if their figures are bad, that makes a better case for Bayer's bid at about $128.
Bigger chance of up IMO.

Options vols point to no interest in the earnings release... 07-Oct IV at about 20-21, straddle below 2%...

Entered into an earnings trade near the close on YUM. Hovering between $86-87 after hours. I should be fine if YUM opens in this range in the morning.

-sold Oct 7 87 puts @ 0.87 x 10
-sold YUM @ $88.55 x 300
