This story made me rethink the death penalty for half a second

what were you trying to say in that post?

He's been outed as a rabid racist feigning disgust over racism and a blathering buffoon masquerading as a MENSA candidate.

He's desperate to return the favor. But can't find anything substantive to hang his hat on. Consequently he's pulling shit out of his ass as fast as he can. With the psychological projection presumption that everyone is as dumb as he is and therefore will believe whatever he says. Simply because he says it.

I can see the anti death penalty point of view and it's valid even though I disagree with it. The death penalty is barbaric and final. But in my opinion it is appropriate is some cases. Murder, raping and killing is so heinous that the extreme punishment is appropriate, IMO of course. We should pressure the DA offices to do a better job and to focus on justice instead of convictions and if a mistake is made then try to learn from it. Too bad the guy in OK suffered if he did, but so what. He was scum. Let Oklahoma fix their system so it doesn't happen again (ask Texas how to do it).

.Life in a cell, period. Rehabilitation is irrelevant in these type cases, so there's no need for education, TV, music, books, no need for anything at all. Life staring at a wall. Then I'm OK with no death penalty.

This is very close to my view, actually, providing the crime rises to the level of capital punishment. If you add 16 hours a day of hard labor rebuilding infrastructure 7 days a week, with chains on the ankle to make escape impossible, that's even better. If for some reason the prisoner is later found innocent in our imperfect system, he can at least be reimbursed at current rates for his entire period of labor and compensated for being incorrectly imprisoned.

Death is the easy way out for too many in today's society, and some might question if it's a deterrent at all, but endless days of hard labor, that's a different story.

Varying levels of hard labor with the possibility of education as a reward for lesser crimes would be ok.

So you admit that you have the same savagery as he did. That's the first step.
"The same savagery"? Only a shit-for-brains lunatic like you would even think of drawing such a phony equivalence.

Savagery is raping, shooting and burying alive an INNOCENT 19 year old girl who did nothing except walk in on this POS while he was committing another crime.

Wanting this POS to suffer for it isn't even in the same universe.

Some states are starting to think "out of the box" when administering the death penalty.
