The global economy is on track for a short but sharp recession this year, according to a statement from the International Monetary Fund, as the impact from the coronavirus pandemic weighs on economies throughout the world.

The outlook for worldwide economic growth this year is negative, said Kristalina Georgieva, a managing director of IMF, in a statement Monday. The impending recession will be "at least as bad as during the global financial crisis or worse," she said.

The IMF expects that growth will rebound in 2021.

"The economic impact is and will be severe, but the faster the virus stops, the quicker and stronger the recovery will be," Georgieva said.

Trump would be just shooting himself in the foot if he doesn't heed guidance of medical professionals on this thing. If people return to work prematurely and the infection resumes spreading, it's just going to push a recovery further out.

Trumpy is about to say fuck this shit, get back to work, we will overproduce masks and respirators, old people/others at risk stay home.

"A report by senior doctors has revealed 63 per cent of patients receiving intensive care in UK hospitals after contracting the coronavirus are overweight, obese or morbidly obese"

That means at least 150 million people in the US are in the high risk group, probably more.

Even if you say its people are who are morbidly obese. Its probably still over 10 million.

That doesn't mean 63% of everyone who gets it is overweight, 63% of those who are severe enough. So, the only thing that will help clear the fog is more testing. Test everyone and track if they are fatty boom booms, and see who becomes severe. If 2% of fatty boom booms need care, then.. I'm sure other variables can help narrow down at risk.
