No Aphie, here is what is more f*cked up. He doesn't get care if Fido gets f*cked up the ass till he dies from a hernia but yet he does care about social welfare, socialized medicine and what happens to some trees in the forest. People have the freedom to kill and eat animals, but not have sex with them?

People can own pets and keep them on leashes, beat them, or keep them cooped up in cages, basements, closets but not have sex with them?

People can stick their pets in a cage for weeks at a boarding facility where they suffer loneliness, fear and confinement while the owner travels but they can't have sex with them?

This is a value judgment. I think it is twisted that people want to have sex with an animal, but I think a lot of what people do that is harmful to other people and/or animals is twisted.

That doesn't mean that I think it should be made illegal by the government.

Now, if we as a society and government decide to grant all animals the same rights as humans across the board, then I would support that. But a meat-eating, gun toting, duck hunting, deer killing, fur coat wearing, etc. society will never give up the right to kill animals for sport, fashion, or pleasure.

So if some deviant wants to have sex with an animal, why is it really different?

ART, you are losing it man. Seriously. The difference is we kill animals for food, for survival. F*cking your dog serves no purpose except your own sexual gratification. That is abuse. Also keeping your dog on a leash is not abuse nor is putting it in a boarding facility.

Also you seem to be forgetting something about sexual intercourse. It has to be mutual!!!!!!! Otherwise why can't I just go out and rape a girl and say your honor, this girl gets abused every day by her parents and her friends, why can't I f*ck her? An animal cannot give consent to having intercourse therefore it is rape. And rape is illegal. Just as a father cannot have sex with his daughter. You do know what rape is correct? Raping a child is no different then raping a cat or a dog.

Mav, I sure hope you're as incensed about sport fishing and hunting as you are about this issue. I'll go ahead and define sport fishing/hunting as not needed for food (which of course catch and release certainly qualifies for).

I do think bestiality should be illegal for many of the same reasons as you, but you seem a little worked up over something that is fairly small potatoes compared to the other animal abuses that occur in this country.

I'm pretty much a libertarian at heart, but there does appear to be things that just cross over the line in a civilized society and bestiality and cannibalism are two of those things for me. I know I could be called inconsistent on those issues but I'll accept that criticism and hold the position.

Also according to your description of your issue with bestiality (abusing a defenseless animal) then a male dog/horse/other animal humping a woman/man should not incense you (though could certainly disgust you). After all, the animal would not consider it abuse and would in fact be quite happily just doin' it's thing.
