Whether you trade or invest, it applies to all. When stocks go into bear market mode, good stocks can fall to unimaginable levels. Strong stocks that are growing and still beat and raise guidance even in a bear market still get hit. Why? Wall Street eventually sells everything to preserve cash and even cover margin calls. Its actually amazing to watch when it happens, not people losing money but watching strong stocks go into free fall mode.
Could Tesla or Amazon get cut in half?
 
When you have a stock portfolio, it doesn't matter if you have a 6 stock portfolio or a 50 stock portfolio a bear market will knock it down. To control your risk you have to have a method of getting out of the market during a bear.

KO and PEP hit all time highs. Same with HSY. Are these not strong stocks? What the hell is a strong stock?

How is AMZN a strong stock? Its been going sideways since the summer of 2020.
