I dont know that I have ever watched an award show but I heard about this Gervais so I watched some of his monologue. Pretty good and I liked seeing him put it in the face of the limousine leftists in Hollywood.

Looks like he hurt poor Tom Hanks feelings. Did you see his facial reactions? Leonardo Di Caprio took it well and was laughing. Tom Hanks did not laugh at Ricky Gervais jokes, he only looked utterly, ridiculous.
