but the Above is also my impression/experience with China, westerners besides broke are pretty low in the food/desirability chain there (Shanghai somehow has the reputation to attract girls who want to hook up with a westerner so it might be a bit better there).

You sure you know Thailand ? Lots of business meetings are conducted or end up in brothels that look like 5 stars hotels, I've seen weddings (involving thai chinese families ) where most of the male guests would go to the same massage parlours after the wedding ceremony, and a few days later the newly wed would go as well.
Those MPs are huge hotel like structures, nothing like hidden in the darkness.
Yes, prostitution and financially supported mistresses are rather well accepted there. They have a whole classification on the mistresses' status, Mia Noi, Kep, Chao etc...
But the white god point is BS there as well, most westerners hang out with simian looking Lao girls the wealthy locals have no interest in while the babes by and large stick to the asian oriented scene. ever been to rural china or vietnam ? girls line up to take pics with the white guy.

in the major cities yes, the orettier gold diggers prefer locals, but still a white guy is seen as more trustworthy and overalll responsible then the locals.
