I'm more interested in long term solutions. For the short term call in the national guard and declare the area a state of emergency.
I lived in NY during 9/11. In the aftermath of 9/11, there were military on every block and every transportation hub. Police everywhere. You know how much crime we had after 9/11? ZERO! Murders were almost non existent, petty crime pretty much gone. The city was under lock down and it worked even though it was not their intention to stop violent crime, it was a secondary benefit. The police were concerned about looting which there was very little of if any.
