I'm going to share something with you, then I'm going to put you on ignore because it's really not fair to get you so riled up like this. What I'm going to share is my background, just to demonstrate to you how truly awful you are at judging others. I come from a decidedly lower middle class background, I worked picking and processing fruit during the summer in high school to earn my spending money. I attended one of the service academies, majored in electrical engineering, and went on to become a military pilot. I earned $24,000 my first year out of college; during the 3 years I lived in Oahu I was stationed there living on O-3 pay. Because the military moves you every 2 or 3 years, I've lived in dozens of places and been fortunate enough to experience a lot, but always from a pretty modest financial standpoint given that my sole source of income was my military pay. After completing my obligated service and 12+ years of active duty, I switched to the Reserves and have since retired. I attended an MBA program which I found to be a tremendously mind-opening experience that I value mainly for that rather than for any job it got me; mainly because it didn't get me a job per se. After my MBA I started my first company in the fin-tech space, which I had a successful exit from after several years. I'm currently on my second company, which is also doing well. I taught myself how to program and built much of the initial software platform for my current company, which has a major SAAS component, and became an expert in both industries on my own. I don't own a yacht, nor do I think do any of my MBA classmates, and I think the only piece of alma mater clothing I own is a ratty old hat I use when I go running that they gave me when I got there. As you'll notice, I'm pretty sure I never even mentioned the name of the school in this thread and have really only obliquely referenced it in any thread on ET. I drive a 2005 car with 150,000 miles on it. I'm neither Jewish or gay, but if I was born either I'd be proud of it. I don't especially like white wine, I'm more into reds and craft beers, but I can be convinced to drink a good chardonnay.

Nothing blows my mind about you, I am entirely uninspired. Should I be? I just think what you describes 100% describes the reason I stated most attend MBA. Dead end career (=retirement) or need a career change. Attending school in order to polish your reputation/standing in society or even your self worth. Nothing wrong with the above. We should indeed be proud of our accomplishments. If we have worked our butts, day and night, were tortured by our professors, have undergone gruesome amounts of work to attain a degree and have really pushed our boundaries then we should be proud of that achievement. Is that describing your MBA? It perfectly describes my MSCF program. And I am proud of the achievement. Do I dream up stories about the glorious times during college/grad school? No, I stated how it was: Transactional, you pay for and you get in exchange. Maybe you had a lot of free time in your MBA program to contemplate the meaning of life. I did not, most in our program were even part time students who worked their ass off at ibanks during day time in Manhattan and attended school in the evenings. Maybe the way I write does not sit right with most. But what I write comes from the heart and burns on my mind. People should consider very carefully whether the degree they are getting in exchange for 150,000 USD and 2 years of their life is truly worth it. For you it bought a lot of different things so it should have been worth it. Education is changing and the way we receive it is changing too. If universities do not want to adjust then they will be made obsolete or it will remain a place for the fringes of society. Already the brightest in society skip college and even grad school altogether. The baton soon will move to the middle class simply because college education has become un-affordable to a large section of society.
