Things are really bad, or

Quote from nutmeg:

Lots of people are still living off their savings,

----------------------------

They very well could be,esp if one spouse gets laid off.

What may become interesting if middleclass people go bankrupt and are unable to access their 401k's. Imagine having 100k in a 401 k, no job, unemployment benes won't cover living expenses?

Basically you're broke but have untouchable assets. Now suppose the gov't allows people to access this money, market will tank further.

It's really fucked up that after all this hoopla about stimulus and taxpayer relief that they didn't pass any bills removing the penalty for early withdrawal from 401k's.

Yep, still appx %20 tax off the top plus an additional 10% early w/d penalty.

I know the money is supposedly for retirement but get real, it's a lot more important now...as is, retirement is a long way away (whether literally for younger folks or psychologically because of the financial difficulties many are facing)...you have to have a job to retire from in the first place.

They seem to have the cart before the horse on this one.

There are lots of simple things they could have done to help taxpayers out but they chose not to.

Instead, they gave all our money to private banks who caused this mess in the first place.

Nice looking cat. We ended up going to the shelter about a month after we put Trick down and got these two rascals. The dog was not pleased.

Ha ha awesome pics. Yeah, I bet the dog wasn't too happy about that one.

Here's one of my dogs (I have three). Sorry for the bad quality:

I don't know if he'd be too thrilled if I brought a cat home or not. lol

Nice looking dog. I've got a beagle now and she hates the new cats. However, she still loves those cat turds, aka "kitty snickers".

Reaver, what the hell kind of screensaver is that?

It looks like a mannequin with a brass bra tangled in barbed wire.

You a fan of the "Saw" movies or something?

Let me ask you something. I read/heard somewhere (can't remmber) that most US cites only have 3-5 days of food in stores and about a weeks worth in hospitals. Can you confirm this? Thanks.
-------------------------

I have read that there is 10 day supply. Based on in store inventory, in transit and in production. This sounds about right based on typical businesses not wanting to over produce or warehouse items, etc.

Everyone should be in the same boatload of shit at the same time based on those able to get to the store in an emergemcy, those who have supplies stored at home, and nothing availble to buy somewhere in that time frame of 10 days.

The only thing left to eat will be "Dixie Chicks" cd's with ketchup packets. (based upon the only thing left behind during the looting from WallMart during hurricane Katrina).

Contributory pet comment no pix. I always had black labs now I have a chestnut beagle. The dog was a puppy raised in a house with a woman who had 30 cats. The dog acts like a cat. When I call the dog, she looks the other way and holds perfectly still and never responds, at best she'll just walk away in another direction.
