On the small chance that you may have watched "A Face in the Crowd" directed by Elia Kazan last night, you may agree that this movie was way ahead of its time (1957).
Its the story of an uneducated, liquor loving, woman chasing, loud mouth redneck that changes public opinion through propaganda, via television, and directed at america's lower classes, in order to convert them to the right wing agenda while taking tons of money from corporations that want to take over the country.
For example, "You don't need social security. After all Daniel Boone didn't want it, etc. etc.

I don't care for Andy Griffin, who played the lead, so I never watched it until last night. But I have to admit, for the time (1957), he should have at least been nominated for the academy award for his acting.
Moreover, it is so pertinent to today's politics it should be shown in high school civics classes but here in the south, you might get into a peck of trouble if you did it.
