You really think this is about fucking freight rates? LOL
One significant component of the rising costs of imported goods is freight rates. Since the U.S. imports.almost everything and mainly from.Asia then the supply chain cost structure pusheda lot of prices higher among other factors.
That component of inflation is not.going away anytime.soon so that should keep inflationary pressures around for some time. Add in cost of oil and commodities still spiking on demand surges and inflation is here to stay in 2022.
If you dont belive supply chain costs have anything to do with that...then you really dont know. Read any earnings report from publicly traded importers like Walmart Costco Amazon Target as well as higher end companies that.import chips and parts from Asia.
China initially de-valued their currency to offset the tariff...so China was paying for the tariff

China devalued to offset the tariff somewhat....not pay for it. China has so many supoort measures for exporters they barely suffered.
Importers paid the higher price while idiots claimed china was paying for it. That is how stupid people in the U.S. are who listened to trump claim china paid millions in tariffs..
I import from China
Th first tariff was 15% China de-valued their currency about the same....So I could buy 15% more product for the same price......So it was a wash....China gave me more goods and it covered the cost of the tariff
Now with the currency back to where it was before ..the Biden administration could care less about the consumers who are paying for it now

You understand I was able to buy 15% more product for the same price because china lowered their currency due to tariffs
I mark up the extra 15% of goods I bought for free and I have more then enough to pay the greedy Government its tariff
