Stevet - Thanks for your synopsis on how CMC operate - I've always wondered why their quotes/spreads go crazy and I'm left holding strong positions in the real world but am miles out on d4f. Must be a decent alternative out there?

I also get the same problems discussed earlier by Neil et al - requotes on winning trades and stops that don't seem to operate as they should - sometimes the price has 20 points to go before the stop should activate but seems to happen at will and I'm left in the cold.

Neil - regarding your choice of software - I've been looking for a while for a good streaming real time charting package which I think qcharts with erlanger appears to have. I've been a subscriber to I Q Charts which is a cheap alternative with some nice features but no streaming real time charting and obviously no L2 etc. I have tried nextrend and quotetracker but didn't find them 'visually appealing' I am also subscribed for free NASDAQ streaming real time charting and L1 on Lycos Finance as a back up - not bad given it's free. Unfortunately/fortunately, I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and go with esignal which appears to be the 'industry standard' kit and has a good advanced charting package. Anything's got to be better than d4f charting!!!

I was referring to the Dax Future.

I would not trade options.

Some trade the QQQ options but since I have no experience of them I cannot comment except to say that I have read that traders recommend buying Calls/Puts at or near the money and near month.

Being a newly fledged trader, having passed through the spread betting phase, I am happy trading the Dax with its' small spread via IB.

easy2trade in the UK is another broker but comms. are a bit bigger and they do not yet trade US markets. However, people do say that telephone back up is excellent with easy2trade.

Hi Helen, a UK AND Ireland forum please! lol Baron will tell you how and we will all be there.... I sometimes think I am absolutely the ONLY daytrader in ireland.. that can't be so can it?

I certainly recommend IB.. they won't actually help you win tho.. but at least they don't help you lose!

Bouds.. if you search this site you will see that the quest for a decent charting package continues.. endlessly

Eq is great in some ways.. bad in others. I used to use nextrend and I really liked em.. but then discovered their limitations. I tried esignal.. which really should have sorted me out.. but it was so buggy on my pc.. maybe all I need is a more exp comp! I don't know.. I went back to qcharts with eq.. seems the best combo for me so far anyway, buts its all relative and depends on what you are after. If you swing trade, thats a whole different ball game to scalping.. I do intra day position/scalping.. lol.. and anyway, on the edge of the world here in co galway, my isdn primo primo top of the range service means everything I see I suspect to be historical.. and sometimes even hysterical.. anyway!

re data supply and charting software, at $50 a point per contract on the es, u may find that saving a few dollars on software ends up being real expensive,

i personaly spend a 1000 bucks a month on charting software, and i am not suggesting u do, but if u have any reservations about your software, and u are not doing as well as u had hoped trading, u might want to check out other suppliers

and i have used all the suppliers, and begrudgingly ended up with my present ones, but am glad i did

Baron is the big cheese of this board - u could be baroness - tell him you will get the queen to send him a message - the yanks love all our royal crap - and then send him an elton john record
